Antibody-mediated rosette formation of epidermal cells with leukocytes in pemphigus vulgaris.

Human peripheral-blood leukocytes (PBLs) were found to form rosettes with cultured human epidermal cells or a mouse epidermal cell line (Pam cells), but not with fibroblasts, when preincubated with heat-inactivated sera from patients with pemphigus vulgaris. Increased rosette formation was observed, however, when untreated sera were used for passive sensitization. Complement was not required for this reaction, because purified IgG fractions from a protein-A/Sepharose column retained the ability to induce rosette formation. Blocking experiments with alpha-methyl-mannoside suggested that a carbo

[Modification of antibody formation in animal experiments by glucocorticoids and aristolochic acid].

In the bone marrow of guinea pigs a decrease of lymphocytes resulted after immunisation against Q-fever antigen, compensating within 4 weeks … trol animals and the animals treated with prednisolone or aristolochic acid. An special increase of antibody formation was to be observed in the group with combined therapy. Possibilities for the influence on the immune response by the drugs used are discussed.

[Effect of a bone marrow stimulator of antibody producers on virus-specific antibody formation in animals infected with flaviviruses].

The injection of the marrow stimulator of antibody-producing cells (SAPC) into animals infected with Japanese encephalitis and tick-borne encephalitis viruses stimulated the formation of virus-specific antibodies in the infected animals, increasing antibody production 8- to 16-fold. Such SAPC-induced stimulation of the formation of virus-specific antibodies is observed in cases of both acute and chronic virus infection. The prospects of using the preparation of SAPC are discussed.

A new mechanism of antibody diversity: formation of the natural antibodies containing LAIR1 and LILRB1 extracellular domains.

The recent discovery of public antibodies targeting Plasmodium falciparum-encoded repetitive interspersed families of polypeptides (RIFINs), which contain extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains from LAIR1 or LILRB1, constitutes a significant step forward in comprehending the reactivity of the Plasmodium parasite. These antibodies arise from unique B cell clones and demonstrate extensive cross-reactivity through their interaction with P. falciparum RIFINs. LAIR1 and LILRBs are specialized type I transmembrane glycoproteins, classified as immune inhibitory receptors, restricted to primates an

[Effects of suplatast tosilate (IPD-1151T) on antibody formations in mice].

We examined the effects of suplatast tosilate (IPD-1151T) on antibody formation in mice, and the following results were obtained: 1) IPD-1151T clearly increased the productions of IgM and IgG-hemolytic plaque forming cells (PFC) in mice immunized with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) when the agent was given p.o. for 5 days from the day of immunization. 2) IgM and IgG-PFC productions in old mice, 60 weeks of age, were clearly lower than those in adult mice, 10 weeks of age; and an oral administration of IPD-1151T significantly recovered the decayed PFC-production in the old mice. 3) IPD-1151T clea…

Extramucosal Formation and Prognostic Value of Secretory Antibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate levels and possible extramucosal formation of secretory Ig, including anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs), in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). METHODS: Three patient groups were studied: 1) ACPA-positive patients with musculoskeletal pain without clinical arthritis, 2) patients with recent-onset RA, and 3) patients with established RA. In baseline serum samples (groups 1 and 2) and paired synovial fluid samples (group 3), we analyzed total secretory IgA, total secretory IgM, free secretory component (SC), and SC-containing ACPA. Extramucosal formation of SC-conta

Mechanism of low molecular weight impurity formation in an IgG1 monoclonal antibody formulation.

Formulation robustness study was performed for a biosimilar monoclonal antibody (IgG1) manufactured at Dr. Reddy's Laboratory, where the pH and concentration level of excipients in the drug product formulation were systematically varied from the target formulation. It was observed that the IgG1 formulation having relatively low pH and high citrate (buffer salt) concentration were predisposed to the formation of low molecular weight impurities. Mass spectrometry analysis of the mAb1 fragments detected the pyroglutamate species from LC-LC dimer and fragmentation in the -DKTH- amino acid sequence

Magnitude of SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Production and Its Relationship with Autoantibody Formation.

OBJECTIVE: SARS-CoV-2 infection induces virus-specific antibody production, and in some cases, these antibodies may cross-react with self-antigens, contributing to the development of autoantibodies. This raises the possibility that the magnitude of the antibody response may be associated with the emergence of antinuclear antibodies (ANAs). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between SARS-CoV-2 antibody levels and ANA positivity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were quantified using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit with a dynamic range of 1-475 RU/mL.

Scleroderma-polymyositis overlap syndrome associated with anti-Ku antibody and rimmed vacuole formation.

Scleroderma-polymyositis overlap syndrome is strongly associated with certain autoantibodies, such as anti-PM-Scl antibody and anti-Ku antibody. We describe a case of scleroderma-polymyositis overlap syndrome associated with anti-Ku antibody, which revealed rimmed vacuole formation in addition to intranuclear and intracytoplasmic filamentous inclusions in muscle biopsy specimens.

Anti-VEGF neutralizing antibody delays osteomucosal healing by reducing collagen formation in mice.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a detrimental side effect in patients undergoing treatment with antiresorptive agents. The anti-angiogenic agent, bevacizumab (anti-VEGF antibody (Ab)), has also been reported to be associated with MRONJ. However, the role of anti-VEGF Ab in MRONJ development, especially under conditions of pre-existing inflammation, remains elusive. This study examined anti-VEGF Ab effects on bone necrosis and osteomucosal healing, with or without pre-inflammation. Forty mice received biweekly i.p. injections of anti-VEGF Ab (10 mg/kg) or saline (Veh). Fo
