Bronchogenic cyst in an unusual location.

Bronchogenic cysts are congenital anomalies of the respiratory tract, which can affect children or adults. In adults, these cysts may be asymptomatic or present with symptoms, most often pain or cough. Intrapericardial cysts are rare and represent 27% of bronchogenic cysts. We present the case of a symptomatic adult with an intrapericardial bronchogenic cyst, who underwent surgical resection of the cyst, which successfully relieved his symptoms.

Bronchogenic cyst of the interatrial septum.

Bronchogenic cyst is considered as an uncommon congenital anomaly. It can be mostly found in mediastinum or lung. Intracardiac bronchogenic cyst is very rare. We found 2 cases in more than 20000 cardiac surgical cases in our department. The 2 cases bronchogenic cyst arose from interatrial septum (IAS), the preoperative diagnosis were myxoma, but the histological diagnosis were bronchogenic cyst in both cases. Although it is very rare, it should be considered while intracardiac tumor is diagnosed. It is recommended to complete resection of any bronchogenic cyst for primarily diagnostic and pote…

Bronchogenic cyst in the intradiaphragmatic location.

Bronchogenic cysts are congenital foregut malformations thought to develop due to abnormal budding of tracheal diverticulumand proximal bronchial structures during embryologic development. The cyst is lined by ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium and the wall contains cartilage and layers of smooth muscle. These lesions most commonly are seen in the mediastinum, lung, or pleural spaces. The intradiaphragmatic location of the bronchogenic cyst rarely has been reported in the literature. We report the clinical presentation and computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings …

Bronchogenic cyst mimicking ischemic heart disease.

Bronchogenic cysts are generally asymptomatic and are detected incidentally by radiographic imaging as a smooth homogeneous mediastinal/pulmonary lesion. We present a case of a large bronchogenic cyst in the posterior mediastinum mimicking ischemic heart disease in a 70-year-old man with unknown heart disease. In patients with chest pain the rare case of a bronchogenic cyst has to be considered for management of atypical angina pectoris.

Paraesophageal bronchogenic cyst mimicking oesophageal tumour.

Bronchogenic cysts are congenital lesions result from abnormal budding of the ventral foregut and depending on the timing of abnormal development cysts may locate within the mediastinum or lung parenchyma. In the case which the density of the cyst is higher it is possible to different the cyst from the tumoural pathology. In our case report we present a bronchogenic cyst mimicking tumoural pathology. It is always suggested to total removal of the cyst to treatment.

[Bronchogenic cervical cyst in a child].

INTRODUCTION: The bronchogenic cyst is a rare congenital malformation of the tracheobronchial tree. Ectopic bronchogenic cysts are extremely rare; they usually develop at the cervical level. This cyst is characterized by the presence of respiratory epithelium. OBSERVATION: A 5-year-old child was referred to maxillofacial surgery consultation because a right bronchial cyst was suspected. The radiological assessment suggested a thyroglossal tract cyst. The anatomopathological examination confirmed the cyst and lead to the final diagnosis of a dysembryoplastic bronchogenic cyst. DISCUSSION: A b…

[Laparoscopic extirpation of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst].

The retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst is an extremely rare anomaly. During the examination of an 18-year-old female patient due to her extreme thinness, the abdominal ultrasound and later the CT indicated as an accidental finding--a left side adrenal/suprarenal adenoma, which turned out to be hormonally inactive. But while we were doing a laparoscopic surgical intervention we found a 6-8-cm cyst in the retroperitoneum, between the greater curvature and the spleen. It contained light grey, mucinous liquid. The left suprarenal gland had normal size and appearance. During the microscopic examinat…

[A case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst].

A 59-year-old hypertensive man was referred to our hospital with a retroperitoneal cystic tumor, measuring 6 cm in diameter that was detecte … ystic tumor with suspicion of adrenal endocrine cystic tumor. The histopathological diagnosis was a bronchogenic cyst, which is an extremely rare developmental anomaly in the retroperitoneal space. We herein report this rare case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst and present a brief review of the previously reported 30 Japanese cases.

Retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst: a case report.

A 46-year-old woman presented with a 1-year history of progressive left-arm numbness. A cyst below the left hemidiaphragm was discovered inc … s resected. Histologic examination showed that the cyst was bronchogenic in origin. Retroperitoneal bronchogenic cysts are very rare, and only four cases have been reported in the English-language literature.

[Retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst: a case report].

A rare case of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst is presented. A 50-year-old man was referred to our hospital for an investigation of a retroperitoneal mass. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging confirmed a retroperitoneal mass, about 4 cm in diameter, adjacent to the left kidney and spleen. On the basis of these imaging modalities, a definitive diagnosis of this mass could not be made. So, resection of the mass was performed. The removed mass was an unilocular cyst and filled with mucinous fluid. Histopathologically, the cyst wall was composed of a fibrovascular connective tissu…

Cervical bronchogenic cyst mimicking thyroid adenoma.

Bronchogenic cysts are congenital malformations of the foregut which are generally encountered within the mediastinum. We explored a patient presenting with a cystic, partially calcified tumor in a cervical and retrotracheal location. This lesion was interpreted as a thyroid adenoma preoperatively, but identified as a bronchogenic cyst at pathology.

Retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst: a case report.

Only a few subdiaphragmatic bronchogenic cysts are described, and their occurrence in the retroperitoneum is extremely rare. So far, only a few cases have been reported in the English-language literature. The pathogenesis is caused by the pinching off of irregular lung budding of the primitive ventral foregut, with aberrant migration into the abdomen before fusion of the diaphragm during embryonal development. A unique case with clinical, radiographic, surgical finding is presented. Final pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst without other associate…

[Neonatal bronchogenic cyst diagnosed by ultrasound].

This is the description of a patient who presented in the neonatal period with respiratory difficulties, caused by a bronchogenic cyst. In this context attention is drawn to the significance of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of mediastinal tumors, lobar emphysema, atelectasis and therapy-resistant pneumonias.

Bronchogenic cysts: a narrative review.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Bronchogenic cysts represent a rare form of cystic malformation of the respiratory tract. Primarily located in the mediastinum if occurring early in gestation as opposed to the thoracic cavity if arising later in development. However, they can arise from any site along the foregut. They exhibit a variety of clinical and radiologic presentations, representing a diagnostic challenge, especially in areas with endemic hydatid disease. Endoscopic drainage has emerged as a diagnostic and potentially therapeutic option but has been complicated by reports of infection. Surgic…
