OBJECTIVE: Tympanic membrane perforation (TMP) is a common cause of visits to the otolaryngology clinic. For decades, various surgical methods and various grafts have been used to treat TMP. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of butterfly dermal allograft (BDA) and fat myringoplasty for the treatment of TMP.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: The inlay "butterfly" cartilage tympanoplasty was first described as a treatment for small, central ear drum perforations. This technique can also be applied in large, marginal perforations, whereas the cartilage graft is anchored on the bony annulus. The authors, however, describe a novel case involving a butterfly vertebra overlapping with disc herniation that presented as radiculopathy.
