Ribosomes are large macromolecular complexes responsible for the translation process. Neutrophils, important leukocytes of innate immunity, have traditionally been considered a homogeneous cell population. The occurrence of soluble immune complexes (IC) was investigated in 177 serum samples from 92 patients with various leukaemias using the Raji cell immunoassay. The biological variability of semen and sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) parameters in a longitudinal intrauterine insemination (IUI) trial over multiple IUI cycles was investigated. Human skin cells (both normal and xeroderma pigmentosum) were treated with carbaryl (N-methyl-1-naphthyl-carbamate), a common agricultural pesticide, or its N-nitroso derivative, nitrosocarbaryl, and the DNA of the cells was sedimented in alkaline sucrose gradients at several times after treatment. BACKGROUND: Hair follicles (HFs) are dynamic structures which are readily accessible within the skin that contain various pools of stem cells with broad regenerative potential, such as dermal papilla cells (DPCs), dermal sheath cells, and epithelial HF stem cells. Babesia bovis merozoites, externalized by removal of infected erythrocytes from ordinary culture conditions, were completely separated from red blood cells and stroma by centrifugation in a Percoll gradient. A merozoite band formed at a point corresponding to about 1.087 g/ml specific density. Infected red blood cells were concentrated approximately fourfold to obtain greater than 49.0% parasitemia after centrifugation in Percoll. Most highly enriched fractions positioned between 1.121 and 1.123 g/ml specific density. Full parasite viability was retained.

The buoyant density of acute haemorrhagic conjunctivitis virions labeled with either [(3)H]uridine or [(3)H]leucine was 1.34 g/ml in CsCl and 1.25 g/ml in sucrose. RNA extracted from the virions gave a sedimentation coefficient of approximately 34S in sucrose, and was found to be sensitive to RNase.
