Mouse liver proteins were classified into metal-binding and non-binding proteins by combining immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC) and two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE). Nontyphoidal Salmonellae (NTS) are a common cause of bacteraemia in children and HIV-infected adults in Sub-Saharan Africa. In this work, we have assessed the possibility of isolating metalloproteinase fractions from infective Leishmania chagasi promastigotes. Our strategy was the association of the Triton X-114 method with iminodiacetic chromatography enriched with Zn2+. The antigenicity of 3 polysaccharides purified from culture filtrates of Mycobacterim tuberculosis by affinity chromatography using a concanavalin A-agarose absorbent was studied. All 3 purified polysaccharides were found to be potent elicitors of delayed skin test reactions in sensitized guinea pigs and in a tuberculos monkey. A calmodulin inhibitor, trifluoperazine, suppresses ATP-dependent Ca2+ uptake into microsomes prepared from bovine aortic smooth muscle.
