Who's more vulnerable? A generational investigation of COVID-19 perceptions' effect on Organisational citizenship Behaviours in the MENA region: job insecurity, burnout and job satisfaction as mediators.

BACKGROUND: This paper is an empirical investigation that examines a path model linking COVID-19 perceptions to organisational citizenship behaviour (OCBs) via three mediators: job insecurity, burnout, and job satisfaction. The research examines the path model invariance spanning Generations X, Y, and Z. Three countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) were the focus of the study. METHODS: The data was collected from a sample of employees in service companies (n = 578). We used a Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to analyse the data. RESULTS: Our findings…

"Like a Prisoner": Stories From Evergreen Manor.

Stigmatizing accounts of dementia emphasize tragedy, constructing people living with dementia as 'unagentic' and 'Ошибка' aging subjects, and cognitive changes as a loss of self. This stigma has significant consequences for people living with dementia in all aspects of their lives. For example, coupled with the biomedical culture in many long-term care settings, recreation and leisure is often focused on targeting therapeutic goals or managing "difficult behaviours," rather than on life enrichment. A social citizenship framework challenges these deficit-based approaches by recognizing people l…

Data from 72 leaders and 346 practitioners were analyzed with a two-wave cross-lagged panel model, accounting for the nested structure and adjusting for demographic variables. Significant positi…

Organizational Readiness and Leadership to Implement Integrated HIV-Hypertension Care at HIV Clinics in Uganda: A Prospective Single Arm Study Nested in a Stepped Wedge Cluster Randomized Trial.

BACKGROUND: Uganda's established HIV service platform could support integrated hypertension care, but organizational conditions required for implementation in resource-limited settings are poorly described. We characterized organizational readiness, implementation leadership, and implementation citizenship behaviour during implementation of integrated HIV-hypertension care in Kampala and Wakiso districts, Uganda. METHODS: We conducted a prospective cohort study nested within a stepped-wedge cluster-randomized trial at 16 public and private-not-for-profit HIV clinics implementing "hypertension…

The popularity contest at work: who wins, why, and what do they receive?

In 2 studies, the authors investigated the popularity of employees at work. They tested a model that positioned personality in the form of core self-evaluations and situational position in the form of communication network centrality as antecedents of popularity and interpersonal citizenship and counterproductive work behaviors received from coworkers as outcomes of popularity. Data from 116 employees and 383 coworkers in Study 1 and 139 employees, their significant others, and 808 coworkers in Study 2 generally supported the model. Core self-evaluations and communication network centrality we…

Our primary objective was to calculate the rate of cesarean delivery, 5-min Apgar score <7, and preterm birth among Chinese and Western women. Our secondary objective was to examine whether there are significant differences in terms of risk factors between Western immigrants who chose to deliver in their country of citizenship compared to those who chose to deliver in China. Methods Single-center retrospective cohort study in Shanghai, China. Multivariate logistic regression models used deliver…

Naturalization of the microbiota developmental trajectory of Cesarean-born neonates after vaginal seeding.

BACKGROUND: Early microbiota perturbations are associated with disorders that involve immunological underpinnings. Cesarean section (CS)-born babies show altered microbiota development in relation to babies born vaginally. Here we present the first statistically powered longitudinal study to determine the effect of restoring exposure to maternal vaginal fluids after CS birth. METHODS: Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, we followed the microbial trajectories of multiple body sites in 177 babies over the first year of life; 98 were born vaginally, and 79 were born by CS, of whom 30 were swabbed wi

Birth rates and migration: an AI and One Health approach within the Italian National Health System.

This study examines the future stability of Italy's health and social systems in the context of demographic decline. The Italian healthcare system, grounded in a universalistic and public model, founded on the principle of equity, is undergoing a phase of instability. The COVID-19 pandemic represented a critical rupture, exposing systemic weaknesses, territorial disparities, infrastructural inadequacies, the rigidity of financing mechanisms and the lack of reform regarding citizenship rights for foreign residents. An inductive, interpretive approach was adopted, starting with data analysis fro…

Understanding the role of age and U.S. acculturation factors on the relationship between allostatic load and cancer mortality risk in Hispanic Americans.

PURPOSE: Despite growing recognition of stress-related health inequities, the role of nativity and acculturation in shaping the relationship between chronic stress and cancer outcomes among Hispanic populations remains poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to examine whether nativity factors (United States (US) citizenship status and length of time residing in the US modify the association between allostatic load (AL), a measure of chronic physiologic stress, and cancer mortality among Hispanic adults. METHODS: We performed a prospective cohort analysis using data from the National…

Self-Organization of German-Speaking Displaced People in Austria Between 1945 and 1954: The Zentralberatungsstelle für Volksdeutsche.

This article examines the collective agency of German-speaking displaced people in Austria between 1945 and 1954, focusing on the Zentralberatungsstelle für Volksdeutsche (Central Advice Bureau for Ethnic Germans) and its role in shaping the country's postwar migration regime and national identity. In the face of exclusion from aid and citizenship, Volksdeutsche refugees organized collectively, leveraging their numbers and invoking the idea of a shared Habsburg heritage to achieve legal equality and integration. The study draws on archival sources to show how refugee lobbying, advocacy and all…

We sought to understand how access to kidney transplantation affects patients, their family, health care providers, and the health care system.
