This review presents the main antifungal drugs, which can be used systemically as well as topically in form of drops or intravitreal injection. In addition, the symptoms of keratomycosis and fungal endophthalmitis are briefly presented. Finally, the pros and cons of an additive application of steroids are discussed.

The aim of the present study was to determine the occurrence of eye infections accompanying the infection of the central nervous system and to demonstrate the possible tissue affinity of different strains of amoebae in subsequent infections. The results obtained demonstrate a clear correlation between the occurrence of eye infection and the degree of virulence of the strains. The treatment of eye infections is very different than treating other body infections that require systemic anti-infectives.
