We investigated the effects of fenofibrate on C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with hypertriglyceridemia. Patients with a triglyceride level >or=200 mg/dL were randomly assigned to receive either 200 mg of fenofibrate (n = 54) or general measures (n = 54). BACKGROUND & AIMS: Patients with advanced fibrosis due to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are at high risk of morbidity and mortality. We previously found that a combination of the farnesoid X receptor agonist cilofexor (CILO) and the acetyl-CoA carboxylase inhibitor firsocostat (FIR) improved liver histology and biomarkers in NASH with advanced fibrosis but was associated with hypertriglyceridemia.
