Frontal bone epidermoid--a rare cause of proptosis.

Frontal bone epidermoid is a rare condition which may present with proptosis, extraocular muscle imbalance, or loss of vision. Clinically and on plain radiographs an epidermoid may be confused with commoner conditions such as frontal mucocoele. However, the characteristic CT scan appearance, which shows a bone cyst with similar density to brain tissue, should lead to an accurate diagnosis and appropriate surgical management.

[Late results of frontal bone reconstructions using Paladon].

Report about 12 cases of defect of the frontal bone: state after radical operation of the frontal sinus (Riedel's operation) or after removal of bone splinters after injury. 6--12 months later a paladon-inlay (acrylate prosthesis) can be implanted to fill the defect and to restore the profile. Description of the production, forming, sterilization and operative implantation of the prosthesis. The patients have been observed up to 18 years. In one case the implanted material was removed after 10 years because of recurrent local suppurations. All the other patients showed an uncomplicated course …

Congenital Osteoma of the Frontal Bone in an Arabian Filly.

Congenital frontal osteoma has not been previously described in horses. This report records-for the first time-a congenital osteoma of the frontal bone in a 4-month-old Arabian filly. The filly had a frontal hard mass that was present at birth and then showed a slow and continuous growth. This mass appeared as a solitary, painless, oval dense tumor of compact bone, about 2 cm in diameter and 3 cm in length. The tumor was asymptomatic, and the skin over the mass was normal. Radiography revealed a well-defined oval, radio-dense mass projecting from the surface of the right frontal bone with no l…

A rare case: sclerosing osteomyelitis of the frontal bone.

The patient presented in this study had a form of chronic sclerosing osteomyelitis (CSO) that is rarely reported in calvarial bones and has never been reported in the frontal bone in the literature. We aimed to contribute to the literature with this case study. In this study, we report a 14-year-old girl who presented with swelling and pain in the frontal bone and underwent treatment due to CSO. The patient had no history of trauma and chronic infection. We conclude that CSO should be considered in the differential diagnosis of the patients presenting with cranial swelling whose diagnosis cann…

Treatment of frontal bone fracture sequelae through inversion of the bone fragment.

Treatment of frontal sinus fractures depends on the structures involved: the anterior wall, the posterior wall and the nasofrontal duct. It may vary from the correction of the defect in the anterior wall to the cranialization with obliteration of the nasofrontal duct. The inversion of the frontal sinus's anterior wall to correct the defect in the fractured region is a good treatment option for sequelae, since this technique eliminates or reduces the use of biomaterial in the area, and allows direct assessment of the permeability of the nasofrontal duct. This work describes the technique of fra

Intradiploic frontal bone aneurysmal bone cyst in a child: a case report.

This report presents the imaging appearances of an uncommon case of intradiploic frontal bone aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) in a 10-year-old girl. ABCs are rare in the calvarium. The radiological and aetiopathological differences between the more commonly occurring ABCs of the long bones and vertebrae, and their rarer counterparts in the calvarium and facial bones, have been discussed. Unique also to this case is the reconstruction performed using the outer table of the bone flap after excising the tumour.

Nasal Spine of the Frontal Bone: A Consistent Landmark for Safe Outside-In Frontal Drill-Out.

BACKGROUND: Outside-in frontal drill out entails drilling the frontal sinus floor in the midline before identifying and dissecting the front … this proposed approach. RESULTS: We concluded from the anatomic study that the nasal spine of the frontal bone (NSFB) and its anatomical orientation in relation to the nasal branch of the anterior ethmoidal artery (NBAEA) is a consistent landmark that enables the surgeon to identify the correct coronal trajectory of drilling to avoid injury of the cribriform …

Frontal bone fractures: new technique of closed reduction.

Fractures of the nasofrontal orbital complex account for 5% of all facial fractures. Mean hospitalization is usually longer than for other types of facial lesions, independent of the trauma responsible (road accidents, sport, falls, firearm wounds, and so on). The choice of treatment, usually dictated by the site and extent of the damage, is important because inadequate treatment may lead to immediate or subsequent complications. A conservative surgical technique for use in the treatment of non-comminuted frontal lesions is described, which consists of the closed reduction of the depressed fra
