Three cases are described of an unusual malformation of the ileum at the site of the vitelline duct, which presented with chronic anaemia. In each case localized mega-ileum was associated with a simple, non-specific ulcer leading to chronic blood loss. A 77-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of right lower abdominal pain. CT revealed tumors in the ileum and uterine cervix. After a gynecological biopsy of the uterine tumor, we diagnosed Stage Ⅳ diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. We treated her with R-THPCOP chemotherapy. A 35-year-old Japanese man with no significant medical history presented to the emergency department complaining of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting 35 h after ingesting raw horse mackerel, sardines, and tuna. Computed tomography of the abdomen with intravenous contrast revealed significant thickening of the terminal ileum with mild proximal dilatation and moderate ascites. On colonoscopy, an actively moving anisakis larva was discovered in the terminal ileum. The larva was removed with endoscopic forceps. The patient's symptoms resolved quickly following the procedure.

Medullary carcinoma of the small intestine is an exceedingly rare tumor. These tumors account for less than 0.04% of all colorectal cancers and only one case to date has been reported in the ileum. Although the clinical manifestations can be consistent with signs of intestinal obstruction, often times they are discovered incidentally in an asymptomatic patient. Intussusception of the caecum occurs about twenty times less frequently in adults as compared to children and in 90% of these cases is caused by intestinal tumors. Intussusception of the ileum usually causes intestinal obstruction which requires urgent surgical intervention. Intussusception is a rare condition in the adult population. However, in contrast to its presentation in children, an identifiable etiology is found in the majority of cases. Clinical manifestations of adult intussusception are non-specific and patients may present with acute, intermittent or chronic symptoms, predominantly those of intestinal obstruction. Primary volvulus of the small intestine is rare in neonates. We report a case of primary volvulus of the ileum in a preterm newborn. Vomiting and abdominal distension began 10 hours after birth, followed by hypovolemia, hyponatremia, and acidosis. Plain abdominal radiograph revealed a pattern of diffuse ileus and very dilated loops at the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. We herein present a patient with lipomatosis of the ileum including diverticulosis and volvulus. The patient presented with abdominal pain and vomiting. Preoperatively, we diagnosed lipomatosis with volvulus of the ileum based on the findings of abdominal ultrasonography (US) and computed tomography (CT).
