A primary pericardial tumor is very rare. A 77-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with chief complaint of exertional dyspnea due to large amount of pericardial effusion. She was finally diagnosed as pericardial undifferentiated carcinoma without definite histopathologial, immunochemistry feature. Despite palliative radiation therapy, the patient died of multiple organ failure. The prognosis of primary pericardial undifferentiated carcinoma is known to be very poor, especially in old people.

We report a case of a 57 years old woman with a solitary mass located in the pelvis diagnosed as an extrarenal papillary renal cell carcinoma, in the absence of a primary renal cancer. The diagnosis was based on cytomorphological features and further confirmed by immunochemistry findings following surgical excision. The hypothesis of a tumor developing in a supernumerary or ectopic kidney was excluded, since no normal renal tissue could be identified in the specimen and in the preoperative computed tomography and MRI images.

As assessed by both standard histological staining and immunochemistry, intraperitoneal inoculation of C. burnetii in guinea pigs led to pathologic changes mainly in the liver, whereas intranasal inoculation led to pathologic changes mainly in the lungs. Myocarditis and positive blood cultures were observed only in those animals which received the highest inoculum. We therefore conclude that both the route of infection and the size of the inoculum influence clinical expression in acute Q fever.

Metastatic disease from primary colon cancer in the thyroid is rare. The authors have submitted such a case. What makes this case particularly unusual is that it was in a man. 80% of such cases are in women. It has been speculated that there may be a humoral component. What is even more unique in this case is that it was found during the workup of a symptomatic parathyroid adenoma. The diagnosis was confirmed with immunochemistry using markers Cytokeratin 20 (CK20), Cytokeratin 7 (CK7), and Thyroid Transcription Factor 1 (TTF-1) .

A 69-year-old man with a history of laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for papillary renal cell carcinoma presented with a 1-week history of generalised abdominal pain, distension and loss of appetite. Clinical examination and CT imaging demonstrated ascites associated with peritoneal nodules, raising the possibility of metastatic disease. Immunochemistry staining from ascites fluid cytology confirmed renal cell carcinoma. Following multidisciplinary discussions, the patient was commenced on a small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

In the present case, the neonate presented with a left-sided abdominal mass and an empty left scrotum. Abdominal ultrasonography showed well-defined cystic formation, and laparotomy revealed a tumor arising from an intra-abdominal left testis. The carcinoembryonic antigen and neuron-specific enolase levels were within normal limits, and the serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin and α-fetoprotein levels were within age-related normal values. The findings from the immunochemistry tests confirmed the diagnosis.

Glomus tumor is rare tumor which arises from glomus body and is most frequently found in the soft tissue of the extremities. The lung is a rare ectopic site, and a malignant glomus tumor arising from pulmonary parenchyma is particularly uncommon. To deepen our understanding on their imaging features, we report a case of malignant glomus tumor of pulmonary parenchyma confirmed with surgical histopathology and immunochemistry and review the medical literature on pulmonary parenchymal glomus tumors with emphasis on their imaging features.

An unusual case of granulocytic sarcoma infiltrating the parotid gland of a 17-year-old woman is reported. There was no evidence of acute myeloid leukemia or chronic myeloproliferative disease at time of diagnosis. The myeloid nature of the tumor was discovered with the aid of immunochemistry. A case of end-stage renal failure caused by renal amyloidosis of the AA type is reported. No chronic disease responsible for the deposition of reactive amyloid was detected until giant lymph node hyperplasia of the angiofollicular type was identified in a mediastinal mass. Amyloid was found within the tumour mass and was characterized by immunochemistry with monoclonal antibodies to be of the AA type. Castleman's disease should be added to the list of chronic diseases endangering renal function by inducing the production and tissue deposition of secondary (AA) amyloid.

Placental alkaline phosphatase (the PLAP-like isoenzyme) and liver alkaline phosphatase (LAP) were demonstrated immunohistochemically by use of monoclonal antibodies in the tumor cells of twelve seminomas and one seminoma metastasis. Intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) was not found. The PLAP-like and LAP enzymes showed high catalytic activities compared to normal testis. Plastocyanin and cytochrome c6 from the green alga Scenedesmus vacuolatus were immunoquantified in cells grown under different concentrations of copper and iron. Plastocyanin expression was constitutive, its synthesis was not significantly affected by iron availability, and increases with copper availability.
