[Jejuno-jejunal intussusception as presentation of a primary lung carcinoma: a case report].

Intestinal metastases from lung cancer are exceptional and even more rare is their manifestation before the primary tumor. The clinical manifestation may require surgical resection because of intestinal perforation, hemorrhage, intestinal obstruction or partial blockage as in the case that we report. Survival in the few cases reported, is low and generally does not exceed 20 weeks, regardless of the treatment performed. We report the case of a jejuno-jejunal intussusception manifested by occlusive syndrome and gastrointestinal bleeding due to the metastasis of an adenosquamous lung carcinoma.

Jejunal perforation secondary to metastatic sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung.

The Authors present the third case of small-bowel perforation of a metastatic sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung. A 62-year-old man underwent a right upper lobectomy because of a lung tumour infiltrating the posterior thoracic wall. The histology showed pleomorphic subtype of a sarcomatoid carcinoma (pT3 pN0 cM0). The postoperative course was uneventful and thus the patient received 5 000 cGY over five weeks. After 5 months the patient was admitted to the Surgical Department for acute abdomen. At laparotomy an advanced fibrinous, bile-stained peritonitis secondary to a solitary perforation of t

[Neuromuscular and vascular hamartoma of the small intestine. Report of a clinical case and review of the literature].

We present the case of a 50-year old patient, operated on for three adjoining annular strictures in the jejunum with proximal dilatation. He presented with a one-year history of recurrent cramping in the upper abdomen and vomiting, with two episodes of intestinal obstruction. Microscopic examination of the stricture revealed, in the submucosa, disorganised fascicles of smooth muscle derived from the muscularis mucosae, bundles of non-myelinated nerve fibres with scattered abnormal ganglion cells and haemangiomatous vessels. The pathological findings observed were similar to those described as

Management of an esophagogastric fibromatosis in a child: a case report.

Intraabdominal fibromatosis is an uncommon neoplasm. The aggressive nature of these tumors and the potential for major morbidity secondary to resection can present a difficult surgical dilemma. A 9-year-old boy presented with anemia and vomiting. He had esophagogastric fibromatosis diagnosed and underwent distal esophagectomy, total gastrectomy, Hunt-Lawrence jejunal pouch, and Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy. This report describes the successful surgical management of an esophagogastric fibromatosis for the first time in the English-language literature. The management of this tumor is discussed

Appendiceal carcinoid in a pediatric patient with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome: A case report and comprehensive literature review.

RATIONALE: Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), a rare autosomal dominant disorder, is characterized by mucocutaneous pigmentations, hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, and a high risk of developing various malignancies. To the best of our knowledge, only 1 case of appendiceal carcinoid associated with PJS has been previously reported in the pediatric population. PATIENT CONCERNS: We report a 7-year-old girl who was admitted for severe, intermittent abdominal pain and cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Multiple brown melanotic macules on the lips, buccal mucosa, and the tongue were noted.

Concurrent Mycobacterium genavense infection and intestinal B-cell lymphoma in a pet rabbit (Oryctolaguscuniculus).

A 6-year-old male intact pet rabbit was evaluated for chronic weight loss. A large mass was detected by palpation in the mid-abdomen and ultrasound examination suggested a jejunal location. Explorative laparotomy revealed a nodular mass within the jejunal wall. Histological examination of a biopsy revealed mycobacterial granulomatous enteritis with an atypical lymphoblastic proliferation suggestive of lymphoma. Neoplastic lymphocytes were immunopositive for Pax-5 but negative for CD3, which is diagnostic of a B-cell neoplasm. Numerous acid-fast bacteria were seen within histiocytes and identif

Polypoid arteriovenous malformation presenting with jejunojejunal intussusceptions in an adult.

Jejunal polypoid arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and jejunojejunal intussusceptions are both rare. Here, we present the case of a 61-year-old woman who suffered intermittent episodes of abdominal pain over the course of 13 years. A computed tomography scan of her abdomen and pelvis revealed a distal jejunojejunal intussusception. A suspected low density mass was observed at the tip of the intussusception. Treatment comprised laparoscopic small bowel resection with end-to-end jejunostomy. The final diagnosis was a polypoid AVM measuring 5×3.5×3 cm. We suggest that polypoid AVM should be cons

A rare cause of small intestinal obstruction in children: a case report of calcifying fibrous tumor.

BACKGROUND: Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor. Primary small intestinal CFT causing intestinal obstruction in children is exceptionally rare. Preoperative diagnosis remains challenging due to its nonspecific clinical manifestations. Ultrasound holds potential advantages in pediatric abdominal imaging, though further studies are needed to validate its utility for rare entities like CFT. CASE PRESENTATION: A 3-year-old girl presented with progressive abdominal distension for 2 months, accompanied by occasional periumbilical restlessness (suggestive of mild discomf

Metastatic malignant pleural mesothelioma masquerading as a case of acute abdomen secondary to small bowel perforation.

UNLABELLED: Metastatic pleural mesothelioma is a rare disease. The present study aimed to report a rare presentation of metastatic malignant mesothelioma (MM). The patient was an elderly man who presented with small bowel (jejunal) perforation secondary to metastatic pleural mesothelioma deposits. This was a rare presentation of a rare disease and the first reported case in the published studies in which MM masqueraded as bowel perforation prior to the primary diagnosis. SIMILAR CASES PUBLISHED: 1.

Metastatic melanoma causing jejunal intussusception.

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a common site of melanoma metastases although reports of small bowel intussusception are relatively rare. Most patients with intussusception will be symptomatic and resection will provide significant palliation. In rare instances, patients will have solitary metastases to the small intestine, and resection can provide long-term palliation and chance for cure. We describe a case of a patient with a widely metastatic melanoma who presented with crampy abdominal pain and CT findings of small bowel metastases. Exploration revealed jejunojejunal intussusception an

Laparoscopic resection of metastatic mucosal melanoma causing jejunal intussusception.

A 47-year-old female was seen in an outpatient surgical setting for intermittent obstructive symptoms and abdominal pain. Computed tomography scan and upper GI series showed typical findings of intussusception. Laparoscopic-assisted small bowel resection was carried out. Histologic diagnosis revealed malignant melanoma. The patient had a history of right maxillary sinus melanoma greater than 12 years before presentation. We report the first case of a jejunojejunal intussusception caused by metastatic sinonasal melanoma, and its subsequent laparoscopic-assisted resection.

[Leiomyosarcoma in jejunal diverticulum. A case report and review of the literature].

The Authors describe a case of double jejunal diverticulum, characterized by the presence of a leiomyosarcoma in one diverticulum and ectopic pancreatic mucosa in the other. The rarity of the occurrence of a leiomyosarcoma in the diverticular area is outlined; only few cases have been reported in Literature, excluding those originating, from Meckel's diverticulum. Barium X-rays of the small intestine allowed the neoplasia to be discovered, while an Echo-Color-Doppler examination suggested the histological type given the high vascularization typical of leiomyosarcomas.
