The diagnosis of sporotrichosis can be time consuming. Serological procedures could facilitate the rapid and accurate diagnosis of this disease. Persons having positive tests for rheumatoid serum factors in population samples in Leigh (Lancashire) and Wensleydale (Yorkshire) were investigated for evidence of infection. Amebic hepatic abscesses are one of the most frequent and serious complications of intestinal amibiasis. Although many methods exists with which the diagnosis can be made, frequently problems do arise. Serologic reactions play an important role in the diagnosis of amebic hepatic abscess.
