Osseous metaplasia (OM) of the cervix without involvement of the uterus is an extremely rare entity. Only few cases had been reported in the literature. We reported a rare case of OM of the cervix clinically mimicking cervical cancer. A 52-year-old female presented with chief complaints of leukorrhea and an unusual sensation of mass in the vagina. Twenty-six female patients with uterus didelphys were observed over a period of 21 yr. All the patients also had a longitudinal vaginal septum. Dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and leukorrhea were the most common symptoms among the symptomatic cases. Eighteen women had a total of 40 pregnancies with a fetal survival rate of 67.5%, and perinatal mortality rate of 3.6%. Premature delivery occurred in 21% of the pregnancies. Described in this paper is a patient, aged 22 years, with uteri communicantes with unilateral atresia of the vagina duplex and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The urogenital abnormality was manifest only at the beginning of cohabitation, when old, infected menstrual blood and vaginal secretion were discharged from the blind-ending vagina through a communication between the two cervical canals into the normally functioning vagina. The patient recovered completely, following unilateral hysterectomy and colpectomy.

In 1985 sigmoid resection was performed in an 81-year-old patient with recurrent sigmoid diverticulitis. Due to adenomyosis uteri, hysterectomy was performed at the same time. Approximately one year after an uneventful recovery fetid leukorrhea occurred. Radiograms revealed a fistula between the terminal ileum and vagina. Adhesions between the terminal ileum and vaginal stump were surgically resolved and an ileum segment resection was performed. Based on 139 cases collected in 36 months, the authors show that neonatal sepsis and meningitis with Gram negative bacilli represent 62.33% of confirmed neonatal sepsis (223 cases out of 6,784 neonatal hospitalisations). 53.96% of cases are manifest within the first 72 hours of life. 35.25% of these infants are preemies. During 42 months of study, 150 cases of laparoscopic ventrosuspension were performed at Al-Azhar University hospitals. In 98 patients (65.33 … in 29 infertile patients and improvement of backache, deep dyspareunia, congestive dysmenorrhea and leukorrhea occurred in 81.25%, 89.25%, 68.18% and 56.66%, respectively. The technique is simple and safe; it reduces the length of hospitalization and can be performed concomitant with other surgical procedures.

A simple and inexpensive test is described which permits positive identification of amniotic fluid by its fern-type crystallization. It permits a rapid and certain differential diagnosis between leukorrhea, hydrorrhea, urinary incontinence and spontaneous amniotomy.
