OBJECTIVE: Alcohol consumption (alcohol preference or alcohol intake) in animals is an index of human drinking behavior. Cocaine is the most frequently abused drug at present. Therefore, an increasing number of cases demonstrating concurrent use of alcohol and cocaine is being noted. Hepatic vein thrombosis, as well as hepatocellular carcinomas, was induced in inbred C3H male and female mice ingesting 10 ppm of dieldrin, aldrin, heptachlor, or heptachlor epoxide in the diet. We have investigated the specific humoral immune response and its correlation to the development of disease after experimental inoculation of B. burgdorferi in different inbred strains of mice.
