OBJECTIVE: To provide an accessible source of clinical information related to the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric morbidity associated with HIV infection.
METHOD: A selective MEDLINE literature search was used to identify 225 relevant articles, 67 of which were selected for inclusion based upon the presence of psychiatric morbidity. Psychiatric morbidity was defined by the presence of a DSM-IV diagnostic code reflecting psychiatric illness.

Data on the association between alcohol abuse and cancer morbidity are scarce in large cohorts of non-hospitalised alcoholic men and women. Of 18,368 alcohol abusers who entered an outpatient clinic in Copenhagen during 1954-87, 18,307 were followed and their cancer incidence was compared with that of the total Danish population. METHODS: The hospital records of 128 women who underwent abdominal myomectomies during a 39-month period were reviewed retrospectively. Particular attention was given to blood transfusion requirement and the febrile morbidity rate.

This study is based on the 1983 Rural Health Survey of Ethiopia. Patterns and levels of child morbidity by age, sex, geographic region, and sanitary facilities are examined. A group of 324 patients received prophylactic treatment with either sodium bicarbonate, potassium citrate or a glucose placebo following urodynamic studies.
