The Klestadt cyst, also known as nasoalveolar cyst, is an uncommon nonodontogenic tumor located in the maxillofacial soft tissue, on the region corresponding to the nasolabial furrow. Following its first description by Zuckerkandl in 1882, <300 patients have been reported in the literature. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the preferred modality for diagnosis and management of Klestadt cyst. Magnetic resonance imaging is superior to computed tomography in demonstration of the relationship with surrounding soft tissues and bones, and also showing the accurate localization of the lesion. The nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is the most common of the non-odontogenic cyst of the jaws. This cysts are usually central or unilateral with no prevalence of side occurrence. The NPDC is the most frequent developmental, nonodontogenic cyst of the jaws. This cyst originates from epithelial remnants from the nasopalatine duct. The cells could be activated spontaneously during life, or are eventually stimulated by the irritating action of various agents (infection, etc.). Generally, patients present without clinical signs and symptoms. Therefore, the tentative diagnosis "nasopalatine duct cyst

Multidetector row CT (MDCT) offers superior soft tissue characterization and is useful for diagnosis of odontogenic and nonodontogenic cysts and tumors, fibro-osseous lesions, inflammatory, malignancy, metastatic lesions, developmental abnormalities, and maxillofacial trauma. The rapid advances in MDCT technology, including perfusion CT, dual-energy CT, and texture analysis, will be an integrated anatomic and functional high-resolution scan, which will help in diagnosis of maxillofacial lesions and overall patient care.

OBJECTIVE: Nasolabial cysts are rare, nonodontogenic, soft-tissue, developmental cysts occurring inferior to the nasal alar region. They are thought to arise from remnants of the nasolacrimal ducts and they are frequently asymptomatic. We report a rare case of bilateral nasolabial cysts accompanied by bilateral chronic dacryocystitis.
CASE REPORT: A 48-year-old woman suffering from bilateral chronic dacryocystitis was referred to our department for endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy. She had undergone external dacryocystorhinostomy on the left side a few years earlier. Physical examination and c

Nasopalatine duct cysts (NPDCs) and other nonodontogenic lesions of the oral cavity may mimic odontogenic pathoses. We present a case of a 22-year-old man with a history of dental trauma and a lesion displaying the typical clinical and radiographic signs of a chronic apical abscess- a buccal sinus tract that was traced to a radiolucent area in the periapex of a maxillary central incisor. A comprehensive diagnostic process that included a cone-beam computed tomographic scan and a histopathologic examination of the lesion after complete enucleation led to the final diagnosis of an infected NPDC.
