PURPOSE: To compare the frequency with which nursing activity terms could be categorized using Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.
DESIGN: Descriptive. The sample was 201 patients with AIDS hospitalized 1989-1992 for pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in three US medical centers.
METHODS: Nursing activity terms (n = 21,366) were collected from patient interviews, nurse interviews, intershift reports, and patient records, then were categorized using NIC and CPT codes.

OBJECTIVES: To create a new pipeline for routine health data of residents of care homes for older adults in England, enabling research and monitoring of infections.
METHODS: Automated daily data exports containing person- and care-home level identifiers for residents are transmitted from digital care record systems of participating providers to a secure platform hosted by National Health Service England, following application of project-specific and national opt-outs. Each year, one out of five women suffers the loss of a pregnancy. Such losses are more than statistics: to many mothers, they represent the death of a longed-for child. While increasing attention has been directed toward meeting the needs of these women, the services provided are often fragmented. The use of a comprehensive checklist for providing care facilitates continuity and consistency of care and offers structure and direction for the caregiver. In this manner, vital aspects of care are not omitted as the bereaved woman moves through the health-care delivery system.

In June of 1988, the Headache Classification Committee of the International Headache Society published new Classification and Diagnostic Criteria for Headache, Cranial Neuralgias, and Facial Pain. A new standard classification for migraine and tension-type headache was established. An assessment form facilitating headache classification by the neuroscience nurse according to the IHS criteria has been developed. The ability to quantify variables included in the new classification offers the opportunity for productive research on headache by neuroscience nurses.
