The role of protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) activity in the development of the retinal projection was examined in vivo by applying inhibitors of cytoplasmic PTKs, herbimycin A and lavendustin A, to intact brain preparations of Xenopus embryos. UNLABELLED: Conventionally, diagnosis of lower urinary tract infection (LUTI) is made on the basis of history, urine microscopy and culture. But there are limitations to this methodology especially in children and special populations where there is difficulty in obtaining a full history and details of clinical symptoms. Screening and surveillance for gastrointestinal (GI) cancers by endoscope guided biopsy is invasive, time consuming, and has the potential for sampling error. Tissue endogenous fluorescence spectra contain biochemical and physiological information, which may enable real-time, objective diagnosis. PURPOSE: To report bilateral aplasia of the optic nerves, chiasm, and tracts in an otherwise healthy infant.
METHOD: Case report.
RESULTS: Ophthalmologic examination disclosed bilateral microphthalmos and optic nerve aplasia. Physical, neurologic, and genetic evaluations were otherwise normal. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and orbits disclosed bilateral aplasia of the optic nerves, chiasm, and tracts.
CONCLUSION: Bilateral aplasia of the optic nerves, chiasm, and tracts may occur in an otherwise healthy infant.

We report an 80-year-old woman who was admitted to our hospital with symptoms due to diabetes insipidus. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging demonstrated a sellar/suprasellar cystic lesion with marginal enhancement and the thick pituitary stalk.
