[The influence of Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) on behavioural problems of persons with dementia and the job satisfaction of caregivers: a pilot study].

The prevalence of behavioural problems in nursing home residents with dementia is high. Knowledge based on practical experiences suggests that problems diminish when caregivers are better able to recognize and acknowledge the individual psychosocial needs of residents. Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) is a method designed to support caregivers in providing person centered care. After implementing two DCM-cycli in a Dutch care facility changes in behaviour and level of agitation of clients with dementia and changes in job satisfaction of caregivers were evaluated in a One-Group Pretest-Posttest desi

Personality, Relationship Quality, and Infidelity: Extradyadic Infatuation as Predicted by Dark and Light Triad Traits, Sociosexuality and Relationship Satisfaction.

Individual and relational factors have been found to facilitate infidelity, yet the psychological dynamics linking personality traits and relationship quality to extradyadic infatuation - the cognitive, affective, and motivational preoccupation with someone other than the romantic partner - remain largely unexplored. The aim of our cross-sectional study was to explore the predictive roles of different individual factors (i.e., Dark and Light Triad traits and sociosexuality) and one relationship characteristic (i.e., relationship satisfaction) on extradyadic infatuation. A sample of 303 Romania

Patient satisfaction among persons living with HIV/AIDS and receiving antiretroviral therapy in urban Uganda: A factor analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Patient satisfaction is an important predictor of health outcomes among patients in HIV/AIDS treatment and care, yet it is rarely measured in routine clinic settings in most of Africa. The aims of our study were to evaluate the internal validity and reliability of the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems instrument for measuring satisfaction, assess the general level of patient satisfaction, and identify the factors associated with the level of satisfaction among patients receiving antiretroviral therapy in Uganda. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a cross-s

Pathological personality, relationship satisfaction, and intimate partner aggression: Analyses using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, alternative model of personality disorder traits.

Personality disorders (PDs) have been linked to lower levels of marital satisfaction and the perpetration of intimate partner aggression (IPA). Much of this work has used self-reports of PD symptoms conceptualized via the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder's (DSM) categorical approach. The current study adds to the literature by examining how marital satisfaction and IPA are associated with a dimensional assessment of PDs, specifically by conceptualizing PDs using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Section III alternative model of person

A collaborative care intervention to improve opioid prescribing among providers caring for persons with HIV: Impact on satisfaction, confidence, and trust.

BACKGROUND: HIV clinicians report low confidence and satisfaction prescribing chronic opioid therapy (COT). We hypothesized that the Targeting Effective Analgesia in Clinics for HIV (TEACH) intervention [a system-level improvement to increase guideline concordant care for COT] would improve satisfaction, confidence, and trust among PWH and their clinicians. METHODS: We conducted a two-arm, unblinded cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) to assess the TEACH intervention. Clinicians were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either the TEACH intervention (an IT-enabled nurse care manager, op

Demand-Resource Profiles and Job Satisfaction in the Healthcare Sector: A Person-Centered Examination Using Bayesian Informative Hypothesis Testing.

Work characteristics may independently and jointly affect well-being, so that whether job demands deplete or energize employees depends on the resources available in the job. However, contradictory results on their joint effects have emerged so far in the literature. We argue that these inconsistencies can be partially explained by two arguments in the contemporary literature in the field. First, most studies in the job design domain are based on classic variable-centered methodologies which, although informative, are not well suited to investigate complex patterns of interactions among multip

The elderly living in single-person households in South Korea: a latent profile analysis of self-esteem, life satisfaction, and depression.

OBJECTIVES: Elderly living alone in South Korea report higher rates of psychological distress compared to the population at large. Using a person-centered approach, the aim of the present study was to identify the latent profiles of South Korean elderly living alone based on self-esteem, life satisfaction, and depression. METHOD: Latent profile analysis (LPA) was conducted based on data of 1545 older age individuals living alone. In addition, we examined significant factors that differentiate the observed profiles using multinomial logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: We identified five pr

How to Assess Recovery in Borderline Personality Disorder: Psychosocial Functioning and Satisfaction With Life in a Sample of Former DBT Study Patients.

Longitudinal studies provide substantial evidence for a high rate of symptomatic remission in borderline personality disorder (BPD), while social and vocational functioning seems to remain consistently impaired. Less data is available on recovery and the associated objective and personal indicators. We examined 58 patients 12-18 years after their diagnosis of BPD and compared two different recovery criteria: observer-based global assessment of functioning and self-rated satisfaction with life (SWL). Symptomatic remission was observed in 81% of the participants (according to DSM-IV), but only 4

Understanding happiness and life-satisfaction in older persons across 22 countries: A cross-national meta-analysis of the Global Flourishing Study.

BACKGROUND: Older people (65 +) are the fastest growing population group globally, yet factors associated with their happiness and life satisfaction remain underexamined, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. METHODS: Data was taken from Wave 1 of the Global Flourishing Study, an internationally representative survey of ~200,000 participants across 22 countries. Happiness/life satisfaction, the main outcome, was measured as the mean of two 0-10 scales. Predictor variables included demographic, behavioural, psychosocial and wellbeing measures. Missing predictor variable data was im

Comparing satisfaction, alliance and intervention components in electronically delivered and in-person brief interventions for substance use among childbearing-aged women.

Electronic delivery of Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (e-SBIRT) may be a low-cost and high-reach method for screening and brief intervention in health care settings. However, its relative acceptability, ability to build a therapeutic alliance, and delivery of key intervention components compared to in-person SBIRT (SBIRT) is unclear. The association of these factors with intervention outcomes is also not known. We compared SBIRT and e-SBIRT on satisfaction, alliance, and receipt of intervention components, and evaluated the extent to which these intervention dimension

Is It Adaptive for People With Personality Problems to Know How Their Romantic Partner Perceives Them? The Effect of Meta-accuracy on Romantic Relationship Satisfaction.

People with personality disorder (PD) symptoms tend to report and have partners who report lower quality relationships with them. Using a large community sample of romantic couples, the current research tested whether the established link between PD symptoms and partner-reported relationship quality was attenuated by meta-accuracy (insight into the impression one makes) as well as whether the link between PD symptoms and self-reported relationship quality was attenuated by positivity (assuming one makes a desirable impression). Results suggested that meta-accuracy for core personality traits m
