UNLABELLED: Smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation and migration play a pivotal role in restenosis following angioplasty. The expression of tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) increased significantly during SMC proliferation and migration in rabbit iliac artery injury model. In this report, we report a case of a Saudi girl manifesting both conjunctivitis and hydrocephalus. Parameters of hypofibrinolysis and thrombophilia were assessed in 20 consecutive patients with bone marrow edema sydrome of the hip who lacked typical risk factors for osteonecrosis. Twenty healthy subjects, matched for age and gender, served as the control subjects. We investigated synthesis of plasminogen by the isolated rat liver perfused in vitro for 10 hours. Studies were performed under basal conditions as well as under conditions of hormone stimulation known to augment synthesis of acute-phase reactant proteins by the isolated perfused rat liver.
