PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the incidence of various complications following routine exodontia performed using fixed protocols.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 22,330 extractions carried out in 14,975 patients, aged between 14 and 82 years, who reported to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, were evaluated for various complications.

In a retrospective study, the authors examined the occurrence of hydrops in foetal and neonatal cases in a five-year period. During this time, the clinical and pathologic diagnosis of hydrops was established in 28 cases. In three cases, the hydrops was caused by Rh incompatibility, and in 25 cases non-immune hydrops was discovered by clinical and pathologic examination. Necrotising fasciitis (NF) is an unusual though well-described soft tissue infection of the deeper tissues resulting in a progressive synergistic bacterial gangrene. BACKGROUND: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial infection in childhood, sometimes associated with urological malformations and, in a few cases, causing permanent renal damage.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective study was performed of children with UTI first time admitted to Ullevål Hospital during the period 1988-97. All medical records with diagnoses related to the urinary tract were investigated. Criteria for inclusion were bacteriuria and temperature > or = 38.5 degrees C in children over one year of age, and bacteriuria below one year of age.

BACKGROUND: Large foetus is associated with increased risk of complications during labour and delivery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Data on deliveries and outcome of 504 macrosomic newborns (> or = 4,500 g) born 1995-97 at Rogaland Central Hospital, Norway.

A total of 254 cases of colorectal neoplasms were studied. A male predominance was noted with both benign and malignant neoplasms (M:F of 4.6:1 and 1.1:1 respectively). The peak incidence was in the fifth decade. The rectum was the commonest site for both benign and malignant neoplasms (75% and 63% respectively) followed by the sigmoid colon (11% and 16% respectively). 51 cases of granulomatous hepatitis were seen among 1234 liver biopsies over a 10 year period. Tuberculosis was the commonest cause seen in 55 percent of cases. Other causes included leprosy, sarcoidosis, histoplasmosis, brucellosis, amoebic liver abscess, lymphoma and malignant granuloma. 12 percent of cases remained undiagnosed. Clinically these patients presented with pyrexia and hepatosplenomegaly. Jaundice was uncommon. Many showed elevated alkaline phosphatase levels, anaemia and raised ESR Granulomatous hepatitis of unknown aetiology with FUO was seen in 6 percent cases only.

Thymoma is a relatively rare tumour. Twelve cases seen in Kuwait Cancer Control Centre over a period of 10 years were analyzed. Two patients had Myasthenia gravis at presentation, and one developed it after the treatment, during remission. Eight patients have been admitted with gallstone ileus (GSI) to the Herning Central Hospital during the period 1960--1977. All of the patients were subjected to enterolithotomy only. One patient died postoperatively. On follow-up examination 6 months to 11 1/2 years after operation, one patient complained of a recurrence of cholecystitis, but refused operation. INTRODUCTION: A-waves are late responses following the motor response during motor nerve conduction studies (NCSs) observed in healthy people and patients with neurological disorders. The aim was to define the prevalence and clinical associations of A-waves in a cohort referred to the electrophysiology laboratory for routine NCSs.
METHODS: This is a retrospective study. We analyzed the medical and electrophysiological data of 456 patients admitted to our neurophysiology laboratory between January 2022 and December 2022, evaluated by a single examiner (A.G.), and had F-wave studies.

Adjuvant therapy with different bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) preparations is a well-established guideline-endorsed treatment for nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). INTRODUCTION: Cerebral angiography performed after aneurysm surgery can identify causes of morbidity and mortality that may be corrected. The risks and benefits of angiography that is performed after aneurysm surgery, however, have not been clearly defined. We therefore reviewed our experience with postoperative angiography to determine its dangers and benefits.
METHODS: During 10 years, 543 consecutive patients received treatment for cerebral aneurysms. A retrospective analysis of 597 diagnostic angiograms obtained after aneurysm surgery for 494 of these patients was performed.
