In this study, 1159 seeds of 29 Central European species of the genus Veronica were analyzed based on scanning electron microscopy images. The species belonged to nine subgenera: Beccabunga, Chamaedrys, Cochlidiosperma, Pellidosperma, Pentasepalae, Pocilla, Pseudolysimachium, Stenocarpon and Veronica, following the newest phylogenetic classification of the genus. This study verified the difference between two methods of forensic facial approximation (FFA) regarding recognition and resemblance rates. Three-dimensional models of skulls were obtained from computerized tomography (CT) scans of two subjects (targets). The cauliflower ear presents a challenge to the surgeon. Patients complain of discomfort and appearance. Three patients were treated surgically via a posterior approach to remove the hardened segment and re-sculpture a leaf of cartilage left in place. An acceptable cosmetic result was achieved and all patients are currently pain free.

Representation of exophthalmos in ancient artworks is reported by several authors. In the present paper we analyze a sculpture belonging to the V century AD, likely embodying the eastern Roman emperor Leo I. As the portrait statue is sculpted with uncommon prominent eyes, we discuss the possibility that the historical personage was affected by exophthalmos due to Graves' orbitopathy.

This article describes a 20-year-old man with widespread polyostotic fibrous dysplasia that resulted in massive craniofacial deformity with unilateral exorbitism and oronasal obstruction. The patient illustrates the rare occurrence of fibrous dysplasia with major malformation of the face and skull, requiring multiple stages of surgical "sculpture" to improve function and appearance. The disease entity, differential diagnosis, and treatment are discussed.

In this study a comparison of patients with midclavicular nonunion, treated by a combination of internal fixation with dynamic compression plate (DCP) or low-contact DCP (LC-DCP) and application of autogenous corticocancellous chips or sculptured graft on nonunion areas, was performed. The long-term results of 375 primary mastoidectomy operations for chronic otitis media and chronic mastoiditis are described and discussed.
