The binding of dog immunoglobulins G, A, M and E to concanavalin A (Con A) has been investigated. Two patients with hereditary factor XI deficiency developed inhibitors following plasma transfusions. Neither had severe spontaneous bleeding. Twenty-two samples of commercial agarose were utilized as the gel matrix in a counter-immunoelectrophoresis (CIE) for detection of urinary myoglobin. When different samples were tested under identical conditions, significant differences in the detectable levels of myoglobin by CIE could be traced to the quality of the agarose used. Commercial lipase (triacylglycerol lipase, EC 3.1.1.3) of Pseudomonas cepacia (Amano) has been purified to homogeneity by a single chromatography on phenyl Sepharose.
