Avulsion and replacement of the tooth element fractured at the level of the middle 1/3: a case report.

Dental trauma continues to cause loss of teeth, particularly in the anterior region of the maxilla. Reimplanting the tooth with the fragment repositioned by turning it through 180 degrees presents a conservative treatment option that makes it possible to keep a tooth, at first indicated for extraction, functioning and with a satisfactory esthetic appearance.

The fate of developing teeth in facial trauma: tooth buds in the line of mandibular fractures in children.

Mandibular fractures in children present the surgeon with a unique set of considerations. Tooth buds within the body and ramus of the mandible restrict the type of surgical intervention that may be used. In addition, the fate of nonerupted dentition in the direct line of the fracture remains unclear. Between July 1985 and June 1990, 30 patients in deciduous or mixed dentition presented with a total of 45 mandibular fractures. Of these 45 fractures, 33% (n = 15) involved 16 nonerupted teeth. Age at the time of fracture was 6.0 +/- 2.3 years (mean +/- SD). Thirty-three percent of patients were t

Pathological differences in the bone healing processes between tooth extraction socket and femoral fracture.

Despite various reports on the bone healing processes of tooth extraction socket and long bone fracture, the differences of pathological changes during these healing processes remain elusive. This study aims to elucidate the underlying mechanisms behind the pathophysiology of bone regeneration between the tooth extraction socket and femoral fractures through a comparative study. Eight-week-old male mice were used in the experiments. The maxillary first molar was extracted, and intramedullary nailing femoral fracture (semistabilized fracture repair) was performed in the femur. Pathological chan

Biological restoration in a young patient with a complicated crown root fracture with an autogenous tooth fragment.

Crown-root fractures are one of the most challenging trauma cases to treat. Reattachment of tooth fragment to a fractured tooth being a simple procedure conserves the tooth structure, maintains the natural esthetics value and is thus considered as a favorable treatment option. The reattachment procedure using composite resin should be considered if the subgingival fracture can be exposed to provide isolation after a careful evaluation of the biologic width involvement. This case report presents a complicated crown-root fracture of permanent maxillary left central incisor, involving the biologi

Crown-root reattachment of a severe subgingival tooth fracture: a 15-month periodontal evaluation.

Traumatic tooth fractures represent an intriguing challenge for clinicians, particularly when they involve the anterior region of the maxilla. In such situations, esthetic, psychosocial, functional, and therapeutic problems may have a negative effect on the patient's quality of life. In addition, fractures that involve the biologic width of the periodontium are even more difficult to treat. An interdisciplinary approach based on crown lengthening with or without orthodontic extrusion and the definitive prosthetic rehabilitation represent the standard modality of treatment for these conditions …

Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease as a Risk Factor for Periprosthetic Fractures in Tibiotalocalcaneal Fusion With Intramedullary Nailing.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Introduction The treatment for severe fixed hindfoot osteoarthritis secondary to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis. In our centre, we have noticed a disproportionate rate of periprosthetic fractures in CMT patients following TTC arthrodesis with retrograde hindfoot nailing. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis by evaluating our local cohort of TTC arthrodesis with retrograde hindfoot nailing. Methods A retrospective review of patients who had TTC arthrodesis with intramedullary nailing was conducted over a seven-year period. Results There we

Effect of preparation design on the fracture behavior of 3D-printed restorations in an in-vitro tooth wear model.

BACKGROUND: Additive manufacturing technologies have introduced new nanohybrid resin composites for permanent indirect restorations. However, limited evidence exists regarding the mechanical performance of 3D-printed restorations in managing occlusal wear. This study evaluated the effect of preparation design on fracture resistance, preparation time, and failure modes of 3D-printed restorations. METHODS: Forty maxillary premolars were allocated to four groups (n = 10): sound teeth (ST), overlay (OV), veneerlay (VL), and full crown (FC). Experimental groups received standardized 1.0–1.2 mm occl

Retreatment of a Failed Regenerative Endodontic Treatment in an Immature Tooth with a Horizontal Root Fracture: A Case Report.

UNLABELLED: Regenerative endodontic treatment (RET) has been suggested for the treatment of traumatized necrotic immature teeth. There are only a few reports of using RET to treat a horizontal root fracture. The aim of this paper is to describe successful regenerative retreatment in a tooth with a horizontal root fracture and dens invaginatus. A 9-year-old boy presented with a horizontal root fracture in a central incisor. Pulp necrosis and inflammatory root resorption were observed. The tooth was treated by RET, including calcium hydroxide dressing between visits. After bleeding was allowed i

Simulated Evaluation of Tooth Fracture Resistance during Instrumentation with Single-and Multi-file Rotary Systems.

INTRODUCTION: Use of rotary files in root canal preparation is inevitable due to their high speed and reduced duration of treatment. However, microcracks and even root fracture may sometimes occur in teeth where canal(s) is/are prepared using these devices. The purpose of the current study was to compare NeoNiti single-file with RaCe multi-file rotary systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An accurate scanner designed detailed three-dimensional file models, and a simulated model was developed using canal-specific features; including dentin thickness, root canal length, taper rate and root canal curv
