Up to date, the connection of pelvic trauma with genital prolapse is not widely recognized. These cases could be classified in a group where disruption of normal anatomy of the pelvis is apparent (i.e., pelvic fracture), and in a second group, where pelvis remains unaffected by the pelvic trauma (i.e., seat belt-related injuries). The aim of the report is to describe the management of a 39-year-old nulliparous patient presenting with stage III uterine prolapse after pelvic trauma; the patient had a history of Mitrofanoff's procedure for neurogenic bladder followed by closure of the bladder nec…

BACKGROUND: A vesical calculus in a prolapsed cystocele is rare.
OBJECTIVE: To highlight bladder calculi as a cause of irreducible uterine prolapse.
CASE REPORT: A case of irreducible total uterine prolapse caused by multiple vesical calculi is presented. Bladder stones were removed through vaginal cystolithotomy followed by vaginal hysterectomy.
CONCLUSION: In cases of acute irreducible pelvic organ prolapse, the possibility of bladder stones should be kept in mind and X-ray pelvis including the prolapsed mass should be done to confirm the diagnosis.

A 2-year-old multiparous (Case 1) and a 2.5-year-old nulliparous (Case 2) Djungarian hamster each presented with a history of a prolapsed mass from the vulva. A partial uterine prolapse was diagnosed in both cases, according to the clinical and diagnostic examinations. The prolapsed mass was replaced in each hamster, and an ovariohysterectomy was performed. The histopathological examination of the removed tissues revealed a cyst and papillary hyperplasia in the ovary. This first case report, to our knowledge, demonstrates the possibility of a uterine prolapse with a cyst and papillary hyperpla…

CONTEXT: Uterine prolapse accounts for one of the common gynecological problems in India. The excised uterus is not expected to have any pathological finding other than atrophic endometrium and may be an ulcer because of the prolapse.
AIMS: The aim of this study is to assess the hysterectomy specimen for unsuspected pathology.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The study is done over two and half years at a tertiary care hospital. Hysterectomy specimens done with a clinical indication of prolapse were included in the study. Histopathological examination done, findings noted, and data analyzed.

BACKGROUND: Certain situations dictate conservative management of grade 4 uterine or vaginal vault prolapse in women. The reduction of a prolapse may not be possible if the vagina cannot retain a single pessary. We have used double pessaries in the management of this condition.
TECHNIQUE: With the patient in the dorsal lithotomy position, either a Donut or Inflatoball (Milex Products Inc., Chicago, IL) pessary is inserted and pushed into the vagina as far as is comfortable. A second pessary, either a flexible Gellhorn or Shaatz (Milex Products Inc.), then is placed caudad to the first.

INTRODUCTION: We sought to determine rates of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) recurrence following pregnancy and delivery in reproductive-age women with prior hysteropexy.
METHODS: Scopus, MEDLine, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases were searched from inception to May 2020 for combinations of any of the keywords: "pregnancy", "delivery", "fertility", or "cesarean" with a comprehensive list of uterine-sparing surgical procedures for POP repair. Using approach, 1,817 articles were identified describing surgical, uterine-sparing POP repair techniques and subsequent pregnancy

BACKGROUND: Identification of occult malignancy after intra-abdominal morcellation at the time of robotic-assisted supracervical hysterectomy and cervicosacropexy for uterine prolapse may lead to challenging postoperative management and leads one to question the need for preoperative evaluation.
CASES: We present 2 cases of occult endometrial carcinoma after robotic-assisted supracervical hysterectomy and cervicosacropexy with intra-abdominal uterine morcellation from January 2008 to December 2010. A total of 63 patients underwent the stated surgical procedure with 2 patients (3.17%) found to…

IMPORTANCE: Collagen cannot be underestimated in maintaining the structural integrity of the ligaments and connective tissue, as it plays a crucial role in pelvic organ support.
OBJECTIVE: In this study, extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN) levels in the uterosacral ligament, cardinal ligament, and ligamentum rotundum tissues of women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) were compared with women without POP. The aim was to investigate the role of EMMPRIN in the etiopathogenesis of POP.
STUDY DESIGN: Our study was planned as a prospective cohort study between August and Novemb

PURPOSE: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition affecting women's quality of life. The pathophysiology of POP is complex and not yet fully understood. This study aimed to investigate uterine contractility and myometrial stiffness in patients with POP.
PATIENT METHODS: The study included 27 POP patients and 27 non-POP patients scheduled for hysterectomy. Preoperatively, transabdominal shear wave elastography (SWE) examinations were performed. During hysterectomy, myometrial tissues were collected and suspended in isolated organ baths. Peak-to-peak (p-p) contractions, the area under

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to synthesize the current literature and provide surgeons with data to inform counseling of eligible patients for uterine-preserving prolapse surgery (UPPS).
METHODS: We compared UPPS to similar techniques incorporating hysterectomy, including native-tissue repairs by vaginal, laparoscopic, or open approach; mesh-reinforced repairs by vaginal, laparoscopic, or open approach; obliterative repairs; and the Manchester procedure. Reviewed outcomes include surgical and patient-reported outcomes, complications, uterine pathology, and sexual function. We conducted

Congenital tracheobronchomegaly, also known as Mounier-Kuhn syndrome (MKS), is an uncommon illness characterised by dilatation of the major bronchi and recurrent chest infections. Tracheobronchomegaly may also be accompanied by tracheal and bronchial diverticula. We report the case of a middle-aged woman with a complaint of uterine prolapse for which a hysterectomy is planned. The patient complained of recurrent cough with expectoration for the last 6 years; hence, a radiograph of the chest and CT of the thorax were advised. A radiograph of the chest and thoracic CT showed dilation and numerou…

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a major health problem that affects many women with potentially severe physical and psychological impact as well as impact on their daily activities, and quality of life. Several surgical techniques have been proposed for the treatment of POP. The FDA has published documents that refer to concerns about the use of synthetic meshes for the treatment of prolapse, in view of the severe complications that may occur. These led to hesitancy in use of these meshes and partial increase in use of other biological grafts such as allografts and xenografts. Although there se
