BPA and NP are both typical endocrine disruptors, the exposed populations are widespread, and the health risks mustn't be ignored. However, the interactions between them on spermatogenesis are rarely mentioned. And the underlying mechanism is unclear yet. In the present study, prepubertal SD rats were exposed to different low doses of BPA and NP separately or jointly for 4 weeks. The results indicate that the joint exposure induced excessive apoptosis and autophagy in the testes, as proved by a series of characteristics such as chromatin condensation and autophagosomes formation. Besides, endo

Bisphenol A (BPA) is used in various areas of daily life as a major component of plastic products. However, it is also known as a strong endocrine disruptor that affects the human immune system. Studies have indicated that BPA possibly exacerbates allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma. The main aim of this study was to elucidate whether BPA is directly involved in the exacerbation of allergic inflammation. Initially, in vivo experiments with mouse models of allergic inflammation induced by Th2 type hapten toluene-2, 4-diisocyanate (TDI) was performed. Mice were subjected to or

Since 2010, Bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor has been restricted and replaced by analogues like Bisphenol S (BPS). However, little is known about BPS effects and growing concern have suspected the "BPA-free" Label. Several recent studies suggest that BPS is associated with increased risk of diabetes and obesity. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unidentified. The current study investigates investigate BPS effects on hypothalamic neuropeptides regulating feeding behavior, either orexigenic or anorexigenic in Swiss Albino mice. We also studied the effect of BPS on the apelinergi

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an estrogenic chemical used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Our earlier studies have demonstrated that BPA is a potent reproductive and genotoxic agent and affects the normal physiological functions. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether exposure to BPA induces oxidative stress. The male Holtzman rats were orally gavaged with BPA (0.01 mg and 5.0 mg/kg/bw) over the period of 6 days. Animals were euthanized by cervical dislocation at the end of the treatments; bone marrow cells and blood lymphocytes were aspirated; testis and epid

Environmental contaminant, Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a xenoestrogen, an essential component used for the production of two classes of polymers such as polycarbonate and epoxy resin which disrupts the normal endocrine function. BPA has intense effects on mice endocrine pancreas, an essential tissue involved in glucose metabolism. It disrupts pancreatic β-cell insulin content, induces hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance in male rats. Cardiac muscle is an insulin responsive organ and insulin has direct effects on glucose transport. The present study was designed to assess the effect of BPA on insu

Humans are widely exposed to phthalates, bisphenol A and nonylphenol owing to the ubiquitous use of these chemicals in consumer products. Increasing attention has been paid to exposure to phthalates, bisphenol A and nonylphenol because of their potential adverse effects on human fertility. A validated method was developed to investigate the three classes of environmental estrogen, mentioned above, in the urine of Chinese women of Nanjing area with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion. Solid-phase extraction coupled with ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UP

Bisphenol A is an environment-polluting industrial chemical able to interfere with the endocrine system. An obesogenic effect in perinatally exposed rodents has been described as estrogenic activity. We exposed male mice to Bisphenol A during fetal-perinatal period (from 10 days post coitum to 31 days post partum) and investigated the effects of this early-life exposure at 78 days of age. Body weight, food intake, fat mass, and hypothalamic signals related to anorexigenic control of food intake were analyzed. Results show that Bisphenol A exposure reduced body weight and food intake. Bisphenol A (BPA) interacts with the endocrine system and seems to produce different effects in relation to gender. The objective of the study was to clarify the possible health effects of exposure to BPA in relation to gender. A literature search was performed using three different search engines: Medline, PubMed and Scopus. Data on both animals and humans showed that BPA acts as a xenoestrogen and interacts with the androgens' metabolism, producing different outcomes: uterotropic effects, decreasing sperm production, stimulation of prolactin release. Gender difference plays a key role in und

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical found in hard plastics and the coatings of food and drinks cans which can behave in a similar way to estrogen and other hormones in the human body. This study aimed to evaluate the significance of the treatment with oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol olive leaves rich extracts in reducing functional perturbations and oxidative stress arising from BPA treatment in livers and kidneys of lactating mother rats and their pups'. For this, four groups of lactating mothers were used: controls (group A), treated with bisphenol A (group B), treated with bisphenol A and oleurop

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used plasticizer, which came into focus because of its genotoxic and sensitizing potential. Besides its toxic properties, BPA is also well-known for its antioxidant chemical properties. This in vitro study investigated the interference of BPA with interferon-γ (IFN-γ)-induced tryptophan breakdown and neopterin production in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). The pro-inflammatory cytokine IFN-γ induces the conversion of the essential amino acid tryptophan into kynurenine via the enzyme indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO-1). In parallel, GTP-cyclohydrola

In this study, photocatalytic and catalytic wet-air oxidation (CWAO) processes were used to examine removal efficiency of bisphenol A from aqueous samples over several titanate nanotube-based catalysts. Unexpected toxicity of bisphenol A (BPA) samples treated by means of the CWAO process to some tested species was determined. In addition, the CWAO effluent was recycled five- or 10-fold in order to increase the number of interactions between the liquid phase and catalyst. Consequently, the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis indicated higher concentrations of some tox

Bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine-disrupting chemical, has been considered as a possible risk factor for diabetes and its complications. However, the underlying mechanisms of BPA-induced diabetes are not clear. The present study was performed to evaluate the effects of BPA on the hyperglycemia, lipid abnormalities and oxidative stress. In this study, the mice were divided into three groups of six animals each: One group as a control (C) and two other groups which exposed to 0.5 and 2 mg/kg concentrations of BPA. BPA powder was dissolved in sterile extra virgin olive oil and injected intraperiton

BACKGROUND: Aluminium tubes for pharmaceutical use are internally lacquered with epoxy resins (ER) based on bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE). Recently, it was shown that remnants of ER polymerization like BADGE are extractable from epoxy-based coatings of commercially available tubes and may leach into semi-solid drug preparations. We aimed to evaluate the safety of BADGE-contaminated macrogol ointments in individuals sensitized to ER based on BADGE by use tests.
METHODS: Repeated open application testing (ROAT) in 11 patients sensitized to ER based on BADGE with BADGE in macrogol ointmen

BACKGROUND: Epidemiological studies of the association between bisphenol A (BPA) exposure and diabetes have been inconsistent. The present study determined serum BPA concentrations in the Thai population and their association with hyperglycemia and diabetes.
METHODS: In all, 2581 serum samples from the Thai National Health Examination Survey (2009) were used to determine BPA levels. Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) was defined as fasting plasma glucose ≥100 and <126 mg/dL. Diabetes was defined as a history of a physician's diagnosis or fasting plasma glucose ≥126 mg/dL. Multinomial logistic reg

We show for the first time that bisphenol A (10) has the capacity to interact directly with K-Ras and that Rheb weakly binds to bisphenol A (10) and 4,4'-biphenol derivatives. We have characterized these interactions at atomic resolution suggesting that these compounds sterically interfere with the Sos-mediated nucleotide exchange in H- and K-Ras. We show that 4,4'-biphenol (5) selectively inhibits Rheb signaling and induces cell death suggesting that this compound might be a novel candidate for treatment of tuberous sclerosis-mediated tumor growth. Our results propose a new mode of action for

Bisphenol-A (BPA) has been classified as an endocrine disruptor which disrupts normal cell function by acting as an estrogen agonist. Environmentally relevant doses of the Bisphenol-A have profound effects on rat endocrine pancreas, an essential organ involved in glucose homeostasis. Bisphenol-A acts on insulin releasing β-cells whereby it increases the pancreatic insulin content and secretion and also favours post prandial hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance in male mice. Liver plays a central role in the control of glucose production and regulation of insulin secretion. It is one of the

Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals used widely in common consumer products. There is an increasing concern about human exposure to BPA, particularly in fetuses, due to the potential adverse effects related to the estrogenic activity of BPA. In assessing environmental exposure to BPA, it is essential to have a sensitive, accurate, and specific analytical method, particularly for low BPA levels in complex sample matrices. In this study, we developed and validated an accurate, sensitive, and robust liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method fo
