Cancer progression and metastasis involves interactions between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment (TME). We reported that mice deficient for cytosolic phospholipase A(2) (cPLA(2)-KO) are protected against the development of lung tumors. Chromium(VI) reductase activity was measured in ultrafiltrates of rat lung after various pretreatments in vitro at 37 degrees C and pH 7.0. We have previously shown that neuropeptide Y (NPY) increases cytosolic free Ca2+ concentration [( Ca2+]i) in porcine aortic smooth muscle cells. In this study, specific NPY receptor binding sites were identified in the cells by use of [125I]Bolton-Hunter NPY [( 125I]BH-NPY).
