PURPOSE: Daily disposable contact lenses offer numerous benefits in terms of ocular health and wearer convenience. The purpose of this work is to update earlier surveys by describing global trends in daily disposable lens fitting between 2000 and 2023.
METHOD: An annual contact lens prescribing survey was sent to eye care practitioners in up to 71 countries between 2000 and 2023, inclusive. Data relating to 265,106 daily wear soft lens fits undertaken in 20 countries returning reliable longitudinal data were analysed in respect of daily disposable lens fitting.

PURPOSE: To report a case that suggests that factors associated with daily disposable contact lenses contribute to the risk of developing infectious keratitis.
METHODS: A case of a culture-positive Pseudomonas corneal ulcer in a compliant daily disposable contact lens wearer is presented.
RESULTS: The case involves a 35-year-old woman with a culture-positive Pseudomonas corneal ulcer that was treated successfully with topical antibiotics. The patient wore daily disposable contact lenses on a part-time basis and was fully compliant with the instructions for use.

BACKGROUND: Overnight catheter drainage (OCD) is introduced to avoid overdistention of the bladder at night-time when clean intermittent catheterization proves ineffective for daytime management of neurogenic bladder. We adopted OCD using disposable silicone no-balloon (DSnB) catheters, with the distal end outside the body opening into diapers. Limited oxygen supply to anaerobic sludge digesters to remove hydrogen sulphide from biogas was studied. To investigate community disposal of contaminated sharps by insulin-treated diabetes mellitus patients, we surveyed 144 patients. Twenty-three (16.0%) were non-contactable, leaving a study sample of 121, of whom 102 (84.3%) responded. Charts of 320 patients with corneal ulcers seen on the Cornea Service of Wills Eye Hospital from July 1, 1992, to June 30, 1995, were reviewed retrospectively. Of these cases, 96 (30%) were associated with contact lens use. Ulcers in contact lens users accounted for 36% of cases in the last 6 months of 1992 and all of 1993, 20% of cases in 1994, and 29% in the first 6 months of 1995.
