[Devices and attempts to make understand horizontally and vertically for pharmacology education in Osaka Metropolitan University].

As of February 1st, 2023, the Japan Accreditation Council for Medical Education (JACME) has evaluated and certified medical education programs at 70 medical schools as meeting international standards. It is required that medical schools continue to undergo this accreditation process to improve and further develop the quality of medical education. Although many medical schools have received and completed the first round of review, one of the remaining common issues is to change to an integrated curriculum based on an outcome-based education. Osaka Metropolitan University is in the process of re

Behavioral Economic and Wellness-based Approaches for Reducing Alcohol Use and Consequences Among Diverse Non-Student Emerging Adults: Study Protocol for Project BLUE, a Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Emerging adults (EAs) who are not 4-year college students nor graduates are at elevated risk for lifetime alcohol use disorder, comorbid drug use, and mental health symptoms, compared to college graduates. There is a need for tailored brief alcohol intervention (BAI) approaches to reduce alcohol risk and to facilitate healthy development in this high-risk population. Most BAIs include a single session focused on discussing risks associated with drinking and correcting normative beliefs about drinking rates. EAs may benefit from additional elements that enhance general wellness. The

Preparedness of Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists to Treat Pediatric Feeding Disorder: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

BACKGROUND: Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) is increasingly common and is often treated by speech language pathologists (SLPs) and occupational therapists (OTs) in the community setting. However, the preparedness of these disciplines to effectively address PFD is relatively unknown. METHODS: A national (US), online survey was disseminated to providers who assess and treat PFD. For the present analysis, the responses of SLPs (N = 418) and OTs (N = 195) related to their clinical background, educational background, post-graduate training, and self-rated clinical effectiveness were statistically

School performance of children with neurofibromatosis 1: a nationwide population-based study.

Children with neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1) may have a high burden of somatic disease and cognitive impairments, which can lead to poor academic performance. We evaluated school grades from exams ending mandatory schooling (usually around age 15 or 16 years) of children with NF1 in a population-based registry study using a within-school matched design. The study included 285 children with NF1 and 12,000 NF1-free peers who graduated from the same school and year during 2002-2015. We estimated overall and gender-specific grades by subject and compared the grades of children with NF1 with those of NF

Positioned for impact: Haiti's first baccalaureate nursing program.

Haiti's first baccalaureate nursing programn the Faculty of Nursing Science of the Episcopal University of Haiti (FSIL), educates professional nurses as clinicians, leaders, and change agents, preparing graduates to a global standard set by the World Health Organization. FSIL was founded on Christian principles, expressing a vision of nursing as a ministry of Jesus Christ. Near the epicenter of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the remarkable response of FSIL students and faculty saved lives, gave hope to a community in need, and demonstrated the impact of well-educated nurses on the health of a nati

Time perspective of female prisoners related to success in a training program.

This study compared scores on future time perspective of 50 female prison inmates who were participating in a vocational training program within the Julia Tutwiler Prison. There was no control group. Zimbardo's measure of future time perspective, administered a year earlier, was associated with success or failure in the program. Associations of future time perspectives with education, age, and ethnicity were investigated. An analysis of covariance between the 21 graduates and 16 dropouts while controlling for education was significant. Despite the incomplete design, some implications are of in

The Impact of Quantitative Variables Including Community College Education Hours on National Physical Therapy Examination Score.

INTRODUCTION: With rising student debt, identifying ways for students to contain the cost of their education is highly desired. Numerous prerequisite courses are required for admission to a physical therapy program and have been shown to predict success in the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) following graduation. Identifying how pre-admission courses completed at a 2-year vs 4-year institution impacts student success may allow students to be more selective about where they complete courses, thereby decreasing the amount of debt accumulated prior to entering graduate education. Does the State Impact Hope? The Impact of Direct and Vicarious Police Contact on the Optimism of Youth in Large Cities.

A growing body of research has begun to examine the implications of police contact for youth. Largely emphasizing serious police contact (arrest, court involvement, and incarceration), this scholarship has generally found that police contact is associated with negative health and educational outcomes. In this study, we build on this work by examining the implications of direct and vicarious police contact for youth attitudes towards the future, both generally and with respect to graduating college. Using multivariate regression models that incorporated a wide range of control variables and dat

The prevailing winds of oppression: understanding the new graduate experience in acute care.

TOPIC: The experience of new graduates in acute care. PURPOSE: The majority of newly graduated nurses make their initial professional role transition in acute care. Being socialized into the dynamic culture of today's hospitals creates significant challenges not only for the nurses themselves but also for institutions of higher education, healthcare administrators, and policy makers across this country. Demanding workloads for hospital nurses, an aging nursing workforce, and the high level of stress inherent in workplaces across North America are factors contributing to an exodus of both new

A Consensus Based Research Agenda for Faculty and Learner Development in Competency Based Medical Education.

Competency based medical education (CBME) is an outcome-driven training model that assesses individual learners based on competencies and observable abilities. Although implementation of competencies and milestones by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education has provided some ground work, full adoption of CBME is in its infancy in emergency medicine. Successful implementation of CBME will require dedicated attention to faculty and learner development; however, there is limited data or best practices available for guidance. To address this need, the Society of Academic Emergency
