Nomophobia in Nursing Students: Psychological, Academic, and Clinical Impacts-An Integrative Review.

Background/Objectives: Nomophobia, the irrational fear of being without a mobile phone, is increasingly prevalent among university students and has emerged as a concerning form of digital dependence. Among nursing students, this condition is particularly relevant due to the emotional demands and cognitive challenges of healthcare education. Nomophobia has been linked with adverse psychological outcomes, sleep disturbances, and impaired academic and clinical performance. However, existing evidence remains fragmented and lacks an integrated conceptual synthesis. This review aimed to synthesize c

Virtual Reality to Reduce Anxiety in Veterans Undergoing Chemotherapy Infusions.

BACKGROUND: Veterans are predisposed to generalized anxiety, and a cancer diagnosis can intensify psychological distress and overall unpleasant experiences during treatment. Infusion clinic staff at a veterans hospital tend to focus care primarily on the medical needs of patients, but evidence suggests health outcomes improve when both the mental health and physical needs of patients with cancer are addressed. OBJECTIVES: This evidence-based practice project sought to reduce anxiety in veterans undergoing chemotherapy infusions through virtual reality (VR) meditation. METHODS: The Iowa Model

From Diagnosis to Long-Term Survivorship: A Scoping Review of Specialist or Advanced Nursing Roles in Gynecologic Oncology.

OBJECTIVES: Due to rising survival rates in gynecologic cancers, the need for holistic, patient-centered, and multidisciplinary survivorship care is increasing. Evolving specialist or advanced nursing roles can help to improve quality of life within the interprofessional care team. However, their roles are not clearly defined. Our aim was to identify and map existing literature on the roles and scope of practice of specialist or advanced nurses in gynecologic oncology, from diagnosis to long-term survivorship. METHODS: A scoping review was conducted following Joanna Briggs Institute methodolo

Nurse prescribing of opioid agonist treatment in Ireland: Evidence, governance, and the politics of drug policy decision-making.

Globally, opioid agonist treatment (OAT) is recognised as a cornerstone of evidence-based responses to opioid dependence. Many countries have expanded access by enabling nurses to prescribe methadone and buprenorphine, with consistent evidence of safety, effectiveness, and improved equity of access. Despite this precedent, Ireland has not introduced nurse prescribing of OAT. Drawing on policy reviews, communications, national strategy documents, legislation, parliamentary debates, international literature and media reports, this commentary positions this issue as an important initiative which

Reasonable adjustments for everyone: Exploring a paradigm change for nurse educators.

The number of students with learning difficulties enrolled in nursing programs has increased. Under the current educational paradigm, nurse educators grant requests for reasonable adjustments from students with diverse learning needs in an attempt to promote equity and inclusivity in nursing programs. This system has fundamental flaws which reduce its effectiveness and perpetuates the differences between students with learning difficulties and their peers. A new educational paradigm based on Universal Design principles is proposed. Comparisons are made between Universal Design classroom teachi

Effects of wearing personal protective equipment on physiological and psychological responses during simulated nursing care: a crossover comparison of gowns and aprons.

BACKGROUND: Personal protective equipment (PPE) restricts heat dissipation from the body, and many healthcare workers experience heat-stress-related physical discomfort, including dizziness, headaches, fatigue, and excessive sweating, during clinical duties. Such thermal strain may compromise not only an individual's well-being but also work performance and patient safety. Despite these concerns, evidence from routine clinical practice, particularly for PPE commonly used in nursing care, remains limited. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the effects of wearing PPE during simulated nu

Virtual Reality-Enabled Physical AI Training for Supportive Nursing Robotics: Nurse-in-the-Loop, Site-Specific Conceptual Framework.

Interest in physical AI and robotics in health care is increasing, but the nursing literature shows that the evidence base remains early, nurse-centered applications are underdeveloped, and real-world experiential evidence is limited. Nurses are more likely to accept robots that reduce physically demanding and repetitive work while preserving the interpersonal and judgment-intensive core of nursing practice. This conceptual paper proposes a nursing-centered framework in which virtual reality functions not merely as a simulator but as a scaffolded training infrastructure for supportive physical
