Pyogenic granulomas are common, acquired, benign vascular lesions of the skin and mucous membranes that can develop both spontaneously and traumatically. We present a unique case of a four-year healthy, uncircumcised boy with multiple pyogenic granuloma on the mucous face of the penis foreskin. Although penile multiple pyogenic granulomas have previously been described in adults, there are no reports of similar problems in children. In this patient, the pathogenesis of the lesions is probably trauma related as reported in the anamnesis. Therapeutic options are discussed.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a lesion characterized by non-neoplastic proliferation of endothelial cells, occurring in gingival tissue and representing an excessive reaction of the connective tissue to stimuli or injuries. The purpose of this report was to describe the treatment of an oral pyogenic granuloma, with emphasis on clinical, histopathological, and radiographic aspects. The surgical therapy comprised lesion excision followed by pedicle graft to cover the exposed root surface. The patient's pyogenic granuloma has been under control for a year, and recurrence has not been observed. The p

A case of a giant pyogenic granuloma of the inferior turbinate secondary to nasal packing is presented and its removal via an endoscopic approach is detailed. The sinus endoscope provides excellent visualization and operative control during excision, obviating the need for a lateral rhinotomy. Pyogenic granulomas of the posterior nasal cavity are rare, and should be considered when a nasal mass is detected after packing for epistaxis.

The neonatal anus is an unusual anatomic site for granuloma pyogenicum (GP). Several synonisms exist for GP (at least 16). It is a tumor of soft tissues (benign vascular tumor). Both a maternal variant (the epulis) and a hamartomatous perinatal one are known. The terms teleangiectasic granuloma and pyogenic or infected granuloma have been used to describe respectively the early and late stages of the lesion. In the anal site it appears as a sessile or peduncolated, red-wine, soft little tumor of the size of a millet or barley grain. Histologically it is a capillary haemangioma with inflammator

Intravenous pyogenic granuloma is a recently described form of pyogenic granuloma (PG) in which the angiomatous proliferation is confined entirely within the lumen of a vein. To our knowledge, only four cases involving the ocular adnexa, including two that we encountered, have been described. Histologically, this benign lesion is similar to PG of other locations and is characterized by lobular congeries of capillaries embedded in a fibromyxoid matrix containing scattered chronic inflammatory cells. The whole lesion appears as a single polypoid mass projecting into the lumen of a dilated vein.

BACKGROUND: Lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH), also known as pyogenic granuloma (PG), is a benign vascular lesion typically associated with minor trauma or irritation, predominantly occurring in the oral cavity and in females. Its sinonasal occurrence, particularly in males, is rare, and an association with remote childhood trauma remains a speculative hypothesis. Clinically, it must be differentiated from other vascular sinonasal lesions such as angiofibroma, hemangioma variants, and malignant mimics.
CASE PRESENTATION: This rare case report descripts a highly unusual case of an inflammator

Pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular lesion that sometimes originates from the inferior turbinate. We report a case of a 57-year-old man with a pyogenic granuloma arising from the right inferior turbinate that caused secondary sinusitis with symptoms resembling chronic rhinosinusitis. The patient had a domestic cat and frequently allowed the cat to lick his face. Endoscopic examination revealed a large nasal lesion covered with purulent exudate, and the lesion was surgically resected at its pedicle. Tissue culture yielded Pasteurella multocida and Group G Streptococcus, indicating secondary

INTRODUCTION: Pediatric eyelid masses pose a diagnostic challenge, with overlapping presentations between infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic etiologies. Subcutaneous pyogenic granulomas (SPG), a rare variant, can mimic malignant tumors such as soft tissue sarcomas, leading to potential delays in appropriate management. This case report details the surgical resection of a rapidly growing pediatric eyelid subcutaneous mass, ultimately diagnosed as a subcutaneous pyogenic granuloma with histologic variation.
METHODS: A 4-year-old male presented with a rapidly growing left upper eyelid mass

INTRODUCTION: Pyogenic granuloma development following plaster cast immobilization is rare, with only 17 reported cases previously.
CASE PRESENTATION: Here, we present a case of the youngest patient to date, an 11-year-old male, who developed a pyogenic granuloma on his left thumbnail after cast immobilization for a left wrist and elbow fracture. His fracture was complicated by wound infection, ulnar nerve injury, and avascular necrosis. Following cast removal, a pyogenic granuloma developed on his left thumbnail that was recalcitrant to treatment with timolol, and surgical resection was reco

Ocular pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular tumor that occurs primarily in children. Treatment options for pyogenic conjunctival granulomas include topical steroids, topical timolol, surgery, cryotherapy, and electrocautery. Patients with giant pyogenic granulomas are usually treated with surgical intervention. In this case, a 13-year-old Egyptian girl developed a giant pyogenic granuloma after strabismus surgery. Topical steroids showed a poor response and failed to demonstrate any improvement. While on timolol, the granuloma completely regressed, with no signs of recurrence. Despite the u

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma is a non-neoplastic lesion that frequently occurs in the skin and mucous membranes of children and pregnant women. The anatomical sites of pyogenic granulomas overlap with those of wart infections caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the presence of HPV DNA in pyogenic granuloma samples by polymerase chain reaction.
METHODS: Eighteen pyogenic granuloma biopsies from patients without a clinical history or evidence of verruca in the studied area were tested for the presence of the HPV genome. The presence of HPV DNA was screene

Pyogenic granulomas usually occur on the skin or oral mucosa; however, they rarely develop in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly in the ileum. We report the case of an 82-year-old female who experienced occasional bloody stools. Initially, no significant bleeding source could be identified via conventional endoscopy; however, repeat capsule endoscopy identified a bleeding polyp (8 mm) in the ileum. Therefore, we resected the polyp via double-balloon enteroscopy. Histopathological findings showed increased, lobulated, and enlarged capillaries and desquamated epithelium indicative of epith

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) antagonists have advanced treatment of psoriasis and other chronic inflammatory diseases but are not free of adverse effects. Pyogenic granuloma is yet described in literature as a dermatological side effect of multiple drugs such as retinoids, antiretroviral, and antineoplastic drugs but, to the best of our knowledge, it has never been reported among the adverse skin reactions following anti-TNF-α therapy. We report on a 20-year-old Caucasian man with psoriatic arthritis who developed multiple eruptive periungual and subungual pyogenic granulomas following

AIMS: To report the finding of human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) in two patients with Kaposi's sarcoma (KS)-like pyogenic granuloma. This form of pyogenic granuloma closely resembles KS histologically and it has been reported that immunohistochemistry in such lesions may be positive for smooth muscle actin and factor VIII related antigen, which are typically negative in KS. In both patients the lesions were positive for CD31, CD34, smooth muscle actin, and factor VIII related antigen, a profile typical of KS-like pyogenic granuloma. The lesions were tested for the presence of HHV-8 DNA, which to dat
