Progressive hydroureter and hydronephrosis were diagnosed in a dog after anastomosis of a crushed ureter. Nephrectomy was averted when partial resolution was noticed one month after the ureteral repair. The appearance of the kidney and ureter was nearly normal several months later. Conservative management should be considered in cases of partial unilateral ureteral obstruction.

A 56-year-old male was admitted to a hospital because of gastric ulcer in 1967, and by chance he was diagnosed right milk of calcium renal stone associated with hydronephrotic kidney by plain abdominal X-ray film. In 1979, he was admitted to our hospital complaining of hematuria, and died from renal pelvic cancer on the 49th hospital day. Milk of calcium renal stone associated with hydronephrotic kidney is rare, with only 13 cases were reported previously. This is the first report, a case of milk of calcium renal stone associated with hydronephrosis died from renal pelvic cancer.

The needle of acute aspiration of the pyelon assures immediate drainage of the urine in a hydronephrosis with a distended calceal system. This emergency measure often is necessary in acute high risk cases which are often gynecological cases. A cannula for percutaneous needle aspiration of the kidney basin is presented. With this cannula antegrade percutaneous translumbar needle drainage of the kidney basin is possible without operative risk. Operative exposure of a hydronephrotic kidney with the only aim of nephrostomy can be avoided with this method in most cases.

A case of the rare combination of horseshoe kidney, bilateral duplication of the pelvis and ureter, with stricture of one uretero-pelvic junction causing symptomatic hydronephrosis is reported. The patient was treated with resection as modum Anderson-Hynes. The embryology, symptomatology and treatment of such anomalies is discussed.
