The charts of all patients having received intraperitoneal 32P in the Indiana University Department of Radiation Oncology were retrospectively reviewed for complications and potentially related factors. Ninety-five patients had received this therapy, with a mean follow-up of 43.6 months. The majority of patients (81) had ovarian cancer. We have compared risk factors for cavitary histoplasmosis in 62 patients with that manifestation of the infection and in 679 patients with other forms of histoplasmosis, and we have evaluated the clinical and laboratory findings in 45 patients with cavitary histoplasmosis who were cared for at the Indiana University Medical Center hospitals during two large histoplasmosis outbreaks. Ebola virus (EBOV) and Marburg virus (MARV) made headlines in the past decade, causing outbreaks of human disease in previously nonendemic yet overlapping areas. While EBOV outbreaks can be mitigated with licensed vaccines and treatments, there is not yet a licensed countermeasure for MARV. BACKGROUND: Prophylactic pancreatic stents (PPSs) are used to decrease the risk of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) in high-risk patients. The risk associated with PPS removal is unknown.

We evaluated the in vitro effects of lyophilization for 2 vesicular stomatitis virus-based vaccines by using 3 stabilizing formulations and demonstrated protective immunity of lyophilized/reconstituted vaccine in guinea pigs. Lyophilization increased stability of the vaccines, but specific vesicular stomatitis virus-based vaccines will each require extensive analysis to optimize stabilizing formulations.
