INTRODUCTION: Rapid advances in whole-exome sequencing (WES) have enabled large-scale detection of pathogenic variants. Although hundreds of genes are implicated in hearing loss, up to half of inherited cases remain unsolved, limiting eligibility for gene therapy trials that require genetic diagnosis.
