Background Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a framework that acknowledges the widespread impact of trauma and integrates knowledge about its effects into healthcare practices. As frontline caregivers, nurses frequently encounter patients with trauma histories. Their knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding TIC are crucial in ensuring compassionate, effective, and patient-centered care. However, there is limited research assessing the understanding and implementation of TIC among nurses in Indian healthcare settings, particularly in Lucknow District. IMPORTANCE: The number of physicians and advanced practitioners (APs) whose care is concentrated in nursing homes (often referred to as nursing home or skilled nursing facility specialists [SNFists]) has increased rapidly. Therefore, whether these clinicians provide better care is important.
OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between SNFist care and outcomes of long-stay nursing home (NH) residents with Alzheimer disease and related dementias (ADRD).
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: In this retrospective cohort study of 417 378 residents with ADRD in US NHs, claims for a 20% national sa

PURPOSE: Febrile neutropenia (FN) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in chemotherapy patients. Nurses play a vital role in FN management, yet studies assessing their knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) in India are limited. This study aimed to evaluate KAP among nurses in a rural Indian tertiary cancer center.
METHODOLOGY: This cross-sectional KAP survey involved 111 staff nurses at a tertiary cancer center in rural India from October to November 2022. A validated questionnaire with 17 multiple-choice questions (five knowledge, five attitude, seven practice) was used. Demographi

Integrating palliative care (PC) into the intensive care unit (ICU) can enhance patient quality of life. The knowledge, attitudes, and practices of ICU physicians and nurses in palliative care (KAPPC) are essential for its successful implementation in the ICU. There remains insufficient evidence concerning the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of ICU physicians and nurses in palliative care in China. To investigate the current knowledge, attitudes, and practices of ICU medical staff regarding palliative care, we conducted a study utilizing an indigenized knowledge, attitude, and practice of

AIM: The aim of this study was to document the process of the implementation and the perceived impact and sustainability of the Expansive Learning in Practice Model and its associated costs to inform future rollout.
DESIGN: A mixed-method rapid evaluation was conducted, comprising both qualitative and economic workstreams to document the implementation of the Expansive Learning in Practice Model and its associated costs. Semi-structured interviews (n = 44) were carried out with student nurses, student assessors, and staff involved in the delivery of the Model. The qualitative workstream utili

Since few medication alternatives exist for benzodiazepines, atypical antipsychotics, and opioids, which are associated with side effects and complications in older adults, non-pharmacologic management and preventive care processes for delirium, dementia, insomnia, and pain are crucial. Function and mobility are positively impacted by an optimal care process. Evidence-based protocols for the care of older adults provide particular recommendations for non-pharmacological interventions and care process optimization, which are largely the domain of the clinical nursing workforce. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the nursing practices related to peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
METHODS: This scoping review was guided by a PCC framework (Population-Newborns, Concept-Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters, Context-NICU). The database selection included Embase, CENTRAL, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, and MEDLINE. The Covidence platform was used to facilitate the review process.
RESULTS: Twenty-seven studies were included, which were published between 2008 and 2024 in countries around the world. Th

BACKGROUND: Despite the fact that nursing care and breastfeeding practices are among the most important aspects of effective GDM management, the impact of these practices is still underexplored. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of obstetric nursing care and the impact on the outcomes of breastfeeding among gestational diabetes mothers.
METHODS: A total of 522 records were found after conducting exhaustive searches in the databases of PubMed, Web of Knowledge, and the Cochrane Library. After eliminating duplicates and screening criteria, there were five studies with 3180 participants, 1377

BACKGROUND: Sleep disturbances are common among children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and can negatively impact the health and wellbeing of the child, caregiver, and family. Nurses are well-positioned to support families of children with ASD to improve sleep.
DESIGN & PURPOSE: In this mixed methods study, we leveraged an existing dataset to 1) characterize qualitative descriptions of sleep disturbances experienced by children (4-10y) with ASD, 2) examine the convergence of qualitative descriptions of sleep disturbances with quantitative scores on the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnai

INTRODUCTION: Patient safety is crucial in healthcare, yet over three million people die annually worldwide due to adverse events. To learn from adverse events and patient safety incidents, they need to be identified, examined, and reflected upon. Therefore, the SLIPPS Learning Event Recording Tool (SLERT) was developed to promote learning from patient safety events, both negative and positive. This study aimed to translate and validate the SLERT, which is already available in seven languages, for German-speaking countries.
METHODS: The validation study involved a structured 4-phase blind-bac

BACKGROUND: Managing hemodynamic instability in critically ill patients due to cardiovascular disease or, in particular, coronary artery disease requires an integrated and responsive approach. The complexity lies in simultaneously addressing the underlying cardiovascular pathology and managing its systemic effects. The complexity described above involves a careful balance of interventions, including fluid and electrolyte management, pharmacological support, and, in some cases, mechanical circulatory support. The dynamic nature of hemodynamic instability necessitates constant vigilance and rapi

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in patients with hypoactive delirium in China.
BACKGROUND: The presentation of hypoactive delirium is not obvious and tends to be ignored. However, it has a high incidence and can cause critical impairment. Although nurses are the primary caregivers of patients, the evidence of the current status of KAP of hypoactive delirium among ICU nurses is insufficient in China.
DESIGN: The study participants were 2835 ICU nurses from 201 hospitals in 69 cities from 31 province

INTRODUCTION: Buprenorphine, an effective medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), reduces opioid-related harms including overdose, but a significant gap exists between MOUD need and treatment, especially for marginalized populations. Historically, low MOUD treatment capacity is rising, driven by advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). A graduate nursing course was designed to increase equitable buprenorphine treatment delivery by APRNs. We report on baseline findings of a curriculum evaluation study with a pretest-posttest design.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a small, non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus, belonging to the family of Papillomaviridae. It is a highly common infectious agent, which causes one of the most widespread sexually transmitted infections (STIs), involving approximately 20% of sexually active female adolescents and up to 80% of female adults aged 50 years. There exist two major preventative strategies: namely, anti-HPV vaccination and cervical screening. Healthcare providers, including nurses, can play a crucial role in HPV immunization campaigns, counteracting vaccine hesitancy and doing advoc

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Pre- and post-training surveys about instrument moistening were conducted with the same 356 nurses from a hospital in China. Both of the surveys contained questionnaire concerning general knowledge relating to instrument moistening, perception scale-based questions concerning the same issue, and an inspection form concerning the implementation of moistening procedures.
