Identification of hidden subtypes in occupational health examinations and their biomedical characteristics using graph-enhanced deep representation learning.

PURPOSE: Occupational health examinations have long relied on conventional health classes to assess worker health status. However, individuals within the same examination class may differ substantially in risk sources, pathophysiological background, and potential progression patterns. This study aimed to determine whether stable hidden health subtypes exist beyond conventional occupational health classifications in a large real-world cohort and to evaluate the utility of graph-enhanced deep representation learning for subtype discovery and biomedical interpretation. METHODS: We included 63,98…

Occupational Reproductive Health Risks Among Women Healthcare Workers: A Narrative Review for Clinical Surveillance, Preconception Counseling, and Prevention.

Background/Objectives: Despite well-documented chemical and physical hazards in healthcare settings, existing reviews of occupational reproductive risks have largely focused on single-agent risk estimation and have rarely translated occupational hygiene evidence into clinical decision-making frameworks for reproductive counseling and surveillance. This narrative review synthesizes evidence across multiple occupational exposure categories-antineoplastic agents, high-level disinfectants (HLDs), sterilants, and work-organization factors-and proposes an integrated, clinically operational framework

Clinical and occupational health management of healthcare workers living with chronic hepatitis B: UK policy and international comparisons.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a highly infectious bloodborne virus, which remains endemic in large geographic areas and represents a major global healthcare challenge. HBV transmission from healthcare workers, who perform exposure prone procedures (EPP), to patients is a recognized transmission risk, which varies widely globally. Although the risk is small in developed countries, it increases significantly in high-prevalent, low-resource countries, representing a major challenge to these healthcare systems and underlining the necessity for robust guidance to be in place. The HBV landscape has evo

Clinical, social, and occupational determinants of severe preeclampsia: a multifactorial case-control study on maternal health inequities in Peru.

BACKGROUND: Severe preeclampsia remains a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, particularly in settings with limited access to quality antenatal care. In Peru, structural inequalities, physically demanding informal labor, and psychosocial stressors may exacerbate the risk of severe preeclampsia; however, local evidence integrating clinical and social determinants is scarce. METHODS: An unmatched case–control study was conducted at a referral hospital in Ica, Peru, from 2018 to 2023. A total of 720 pregnant women were included: 237 cases with severe preeclampsia and
