Fifty-five patients underwent operative treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphyses at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, between January 1975 and April 1980. Charts and x-rays were available for review in 45 of these patients with 68 affected hips; the incidence of bilaterality was 51%. Sixty-five of the 68 hips were managed by pinning. Ninety-seven Reye's syndrome (RS) cases in Ohio children with onsets from December 1978 through March 1980 were studied for medication use during their pre-RS illness. They were matched with 156 control subjects for age, race, sex, geographic location, time, and type of illness. BACKGROUND: Religiosity and perceived social support (SS) may serve as protective factors for more severe substance use in adults.
OBJECTIVES: This study sought to examine whether aspects of religiosity and SS are associated with longitudinal reductions in stimulant use over three years in an untreated sample of rural drug users.

AIM OF STUDY: Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has been increasingly utilized over the past decade secondary to favorable reports of better range of motion, higher activity levels, and increased patient satisfaction compared with total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this study was to determine the 90-day incidence of perioperative complications and mortality of patients undergoing UKA.
METHODS: One thousand consecutive UKA in 828 patients were retrospectively reviewed. A retrospective review was performed to evaluate 90-day perioperative complication and mortality rates.

From June, 1978, to June, 1979, all ten Columbus hospital emergency departments (EDs) participated in a program which provided test-of-cure, follow-up of untreated cases, and contact investigation of women infected with gonorrhea.
