A rheographic investigation on the liver in patients with leptospirosis revealed substantial disturbances in the system of hepatic circulation, which observation was regarded as corresponding to gross morphologic changes in the liver. The sexual arousal profile of a subgroup of rapists with a history of low-level physical violence during their offenses was assessed. Twenty subjects participated: 10 rapists and 10 nonrapists. Forty-two consecutive patients diagnosed with superficial phlebitis were seen during a 5-year period. Thirty-five of the 42 patients were outpatients. Thirty-nine patients with idiopathic Raynaud's syndrome were randomized into a double-blind controlled trial comparing nifedipine 10 mg TID to placebo during the winter months between November, 1981 and March, 1983. To determine the relative merits of oculopneumoplethysmography (OPG) (Gee) and duplex scanning of the carotid arteries, a retrospective analysis was made of 93 patients in a 12-month period who underwent noninvasive carotid studies followed by carotid angiography. The results for the duplex scan were 91% sensitivity, 86% specificity, and 89% overall accuracy in evaluation of 184 arteries. A reliable method of monitoring free vascularised jejunum to the head and neck region has been used in six patients. Preliminarily, the jejunum island flap is subdivided into major and minor segments. An ambulant patient with a regular series of mood changes constantly varying between retarded depression and hypomania on a 32- to 36-day cycle was studied for 39 weeks. We used a body plethysmograph to determine airway resistances in 485 cases of laryngeal and tracheal stenoses. 143 cases who had resistances exceeding 60 mm H2O/l.a.sec underwent surgery. A vocal cord was laterally fixed in 49 patients suffering from bilateral recurrent paralysis. Optimal results were obtained at a postoperative resistance level of 30 mm H2O/l.a.sec (standard value: 14.77 +/- 6.53 - n - 387).
