Complex endodontic treatment of an immature type III dens invaginatus. A case report.

AIM: To report the endodontic treatment of an immature maxillary central incisor with dens invaginatus. SUMMARY: Dens invaginatus is a rare malformation of teeth, probably resulting from an infolding of the dental papilla during tooth development. The present case describes the complex endodontic treatment of a type III dens invaginatus in an immature maxillary central incisor with a necrotic pulp and abscess formation. The initial treatment goal was to achieve apexification of the pseudocanal root and conservative root canal treatment in the main canal. Following 1-year of treatment with cal

Influence of apical patency and filling material on healing process of dogs' teeth with vital pulp after root canal therapy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the periapical healing process of dogs' teeth with or without apical patency and after root canal filling with two types of sealers. Forty roots of premolars and incisors were utilized. The root canals were over-instrumented and dressed with a corticosteroid-antibiotic solution for 7 days to obtain ingrowth of periapical connective tissue into the canals. After this period, the tissue was removed in half of the specimens (groups with patency) and preserved in the other half (groups without patency). Canals were filled by lateral condensation techniq

Surgical management of overfilling of the root canal: a case report.

Overfilling of the root canal is one of the most common errors encountered in dental practice. A 40-year-old woman complained of paresthesia and swelling affecting the left side of the mandible. Panoramic radiographs revealed that the root canal was overfilled; endodontic restorative material extended as far as the mandibular angle. Several months after surgical removal of the tooth and excess filling material, the symptoms subsided.

Nonsurgical Endodontic Management of an Odontogenic Cutaneous Sinus Tract in a Child: A Case Report.

Odontogenic cutaneous sinus tracts represent an uncommon clinical manifestation of chronic dental infection and are frequently misdiagnosed due to the absence of dental symptoms and their resemblance to dermatologic lesions. This case report describes the nonsurgical endodontic management of a cutaneous sinus tract of dental origin in a 13-year-old patient. The patient presented with a persistent extraoral lesion in the mandibular region, initially evaluated by non-dental specialists. Clinical and radiographic examination revealed a necrotic mandibular first molar associated with a periapical

Severe tissue necrosis following intra-arterial injection of endodontic calcium hydroxide: a case series.

We present 2 cases of intra-arterial injection of endodontic calcium hydroxide via the root canal system of molar teeth. Nonsetting calcium hydroxide paste was used as a temporary dressing during endodontic treatment and in both cases delivered via an injectable syringe technique. Retrograde flow of the calcium hydroxide occurred along the artery until its origin where orthograde flow continued to the capillary bed. Case 1 demonstrates calcium hydroxide injected into the distal root canal of a lower second molar resulting in its distribution to the external carotid bed and case 2 demonstrates

Comparative Evaluation of the Push-Out Bond Strength and Antimicrobial Efficacy of Biodentine and Bioactive Bone Cement as Root-End Filling Materials: An In Vitro Study.

INTRODUCTION: The long-term success of endodontic microsurgery depends on the use of root-end filling materials that provide effective apical sealing while preventing microbial leakage. An ideal retrograde filling material should possess excellent bond strength, biocompatibility, and antimicrobial properties. Biodentine has demonstrated favorable biological and mechanical properties. However, modified bioactive bone cement incorporating mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and gentamicin may offer enhanced antibacterial performance. This study compared the push-out bond strength and antimicrobial
