The present study examined the prevalence of dietary supplement use among elite figure skaters, gender differences in supplement use, and differences in nutrient intake of supplement users versus non-users. Male (n = 46) and female (n = 59) figure skaters completed a supplement survey and 3-day food records. Descriptive analysis, chi-square test, and independent t tests were used to analyze the data. BACKGROUND: The Internet has become an easily accessible source of information for patients and professionals alike. The purpose of this study were to: (i) analyse the attitudes of colorectal outpatients with regards the establishment of a dedicated, local colorectal website; and (ii) 'market research' the desired contents of such a site.

BACKGROUND: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a group of closely related inherited diseases characterized by abnormal bone fragility. The current clinical classification system delineates 6 types, one of which (type II) is so severe that mortality is 100%, either intrauterine or perinatal. The types are differentiated by clinical groups, by severity, and by the presence or absence of other features such as blue sclerae or dentinogenesis imperfecta. Epidemiological and clinical aspects of 118 laboratory confirmed cases of human leptospirosis in Denmark from 1970 to 1996 were reviewed. Icterohaemorrhagiae (72%) and sejroe (20%) were the most frequent serovars. Adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (EGJ) has increased rapidly in incidence in the latter half of the twentieth century. The increase in incidence has affected white men between the ages of 40 and 60 disproportionately. Understanding the etiology and improving treatment requires careful classification of EGJ tumors. A total of 911 Danish children under 15 years of age were treated for an intracranial tumour in the 25-five year period 1960-1984. All cases were followed up to the end of 1994 or to emigration or death if one of these came sooner. The mean annual incidence was 32.5 per million children with a slight increase over the 25 years. Schistosomiasis due to Schistosoma haematobium was the most common helminth infection in school-age children from a poor area in Bamako, Mali.
