Pentalogy of Cantrell (PC) is a malformation characterized by defects in the ventral abdominal wall, lower sternum, diaphragmatic pericardium, anterior diaphragm associated with omphalocele, thoraco-abdominal ectopia cordis, diaphragmatic hernia, and intracardiac abnormalities. PC is stratified as complete or incomplete and we present both the complete and incomplete forms.

We report a patient presenting with a pseudo-aneurysm arising from the extra-cardiac conduit and dehisced intra-cardiac patch following the Rastelli procedure. Since the aneurysm was adherent to the sternum, re-operation was facilitated by establishing extra-thoracic cardio-pulmonary bypass and hypothermia before opening the chest.

A simple needle aspiration of marrow from the sternum was performed in a middle-aged woman with severe protein-calorie malnutrition and osteoporosis. Though carefully performed, a separation of the sternal-manubrial junction occurred with pain but no other serious sequelae. The article reports on a case of thorako-omphalopagus with conjoinment from the sternum to the umbilical region. Radiological and especially angiocardiographic examinations revealed considerable fusion and complex malformation of the hearts of Siamese twins. This specific diagnosis proved the inoperability of the otherwise largely regularly developed children who died on the sixth day of their life.

Ventricular diverticulum in association with exomphalos is rare. It is usually accompanied by split sternum, anterior pericardial and diaphragmatic defects and intracardiac abnormalities. This paper reports a neonate who presented with exomphalos and was noted to have a pulsating vessel, on the superior margin of the sac, which proved to be a left ventricular diverticulum. Although rare, primary sternal chondrosarcoma (PSC) is the most common primary malignant chest wall tumor.
