Imaging of the spleen of 10 patients who had been hematologically diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia (SCA) was studied with [99mTc]tin colloid and heat denatured [99mTc]RBCs. In all ten patients, there was faint or nonvisualization of the spleen with [99mTc]tin colloid. The title compound, Ca[Sn(H2PO2)6], was formed after a few days when tin(II) fluoride was allowed to react with phosphinic acid at ambient conditions. The structure consists of chains of Ca(2+) and Sn(4+) cations in octa-hedral sites with -3 symmetry bridged by bidentate hypophosphite anions. The chains are hexa-gonally close packed along [001]. The Raman and IR spectra of NH3(CH2)5NH3SnCl6 have been measured at ambient temperature. It is shown that the cations in the compound assume a symmetry lower than C2v. Combination bands observed in the 2100-1800 cm(-1) region in the IR spectrum of NH3(CH2)5NH3SnCl6 indicate that the compound contains the C-NH3 grouping, the bands are discussed and their assignment are suggested. Liver-spleen ratio, volume and uptake were measured in 20 patients undergoing routine 99Tcm-colloid examinations. Methods using planar views only were compared with results obtained using SPECT techniques and automated slice processing. The results suggest that a reasonable estimate of liver-spleen ratio may be obtained using anterior and posterior planar views only. Estimates of organ volume and absolute uptake were not reliably obtained using planar views only, and SPECT studies are required. Quantitative measurements of 99MTc-tin colloid uptake in renal transplants permits differentiation of acute rejection from other causes of deteriorating renal function, such as acute tubular necrosis, cyclosporin A nephrotoxicity or chronic rejection. 144 99mTc-tin colloid scintigrams were performed on 71 renal transplants; the results were compared with clinical, biochemical and histological findings. Sensitivity of colloid scintigraphy is 97.4% and specificity is 80%. Compared with other isotope methods, this has the advantage that it does not depend on comparison with repeated examinations.

The preparation of hybrid films of metal (Ti and Sn) phosphate nanosheets and polyaniline by simultaneous electrophoretic and electrolytic deposition was performed in an acetonitrile solvent. Emeraldine polyaniline was intercalated between the phosphate nanosheets with a monolayer arrangement. The obtained hybrid films were several tens of micrometers in thickness.
