Detection and Analysis of S-Acylated Proteins via Acyl Resin-Assisted Capture (Acyl-RAC).

Protein palmitoylation is a lipid modification where a palmitoyl group is covalently attached via a thioester linkage to one or more cysteines on a substrate protein. This modification, catalyzed by a group of enzymes named DHHC enzymes after their conserved Asp-His-His-Cys motif, plays a significant role in regulating the localization, stability, and function of a wide range of cellular and viral proteins. By influencing how and where proteins interact within the cell, palmitoylation is essential for various cellular processes, including signaling pathways, membrane dynamics, and protein-prot

Nanoflower-structured MnO2/Au composites with enhanced catalytic performance for colorimetric assay of α-glucosidase.

BACKGROUND: α-Glucosidase (α-Glu) is an essential hydrolase that catalyzes the final step of carbohydrate digestion, playing a central role in glucose metabolism. Abnormal α-Glu activity is closely associated with type II diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer's disease, making its precise monitoring critical for disease diagnosis and therapeutic evaluation. However, conventional detection methods often depend on natural enzymes or sophisticated nanomaterials, which face challenges of high cost, instability, and complicated operation. Thus, developing a simple, robust, and cost-effective strategy fo

Anti-Cancer Outcome of Glucocorticoid Receptor Transrepression by Synephrine Derivatives in Hematological Malignancies.

Glucocorticoids (GCs) represent effective anti-cancer drugs for the treatment of hematological malignancies, but their clinical use is limited due to their multiple adverse effects. Selective glucocorticoid receptor agonists/modulators (SEGRAMs) modify glucocorticoid receptor (GR) function, shifting it towards therapeutically important transrepression and, therefore, could be safer alternative to GCs. Here we report on the biological activity of four novel glucocorticoid receptor (GR) ligands, derivatives of synephrine, a natural-origin molecule. We demonstrated the affinity of synephrine deri
