Mothers of 30 infants who had experienced an emergency apnea episode and were placed on a home apnea monitor were studied longitudinally, using measures of mood disturbance (anxiety, depression, hostility, fatigue, vigor and confusion). Mothers were assessed at the time of hospitalization immediately following the apnea episode, after approximately one month of home monitoring, and after three months of home monitoring. Measures of family resources, health locus of control, and coping style, involving preference for information under situations of threat, were obtained as predictor variables.

Owing to growing confusion over the true incidence of RD in HM after cataract surgery, a new definition for HM has been formulated based on measurement of axial length. Verrucous carcinoma (Ackerman's tumor) is a low-grade malignant lesion with distinct clinical and pathologic features, distinguishing it from other well-differentiated squamous cell carcinomas. The population aged 85 years or over (n = 674) living in Tampere, Finland was surveyed in 1977-78. Altogether 561 persons (83%), 99 men and 462 women, were examined.
