In this study, the expression of proteolipid protein (PLP) and nestin is studied in the late bell stage of developing rodent teeth in neonatal rats. By using immunohistochemistry, it was shown that odontoblasts, ameloblasts and the stratum intermedium are positive for PLP in regions of active matrix deposition. Reactivity for nestin could be detected in the odontoblasts, stratum intermedium and in some of the apical processes of the ameloblasts. Obtaining primary human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs) for in vitro studies is limited by the scarcity of adequate human material and the inability to passage these cells in culture for long periods. We report the in vitro biological characterization of WIN 17317-3 (1-benzyl-7-chloro-4-n-propylimino-1,4-dihydroquinoline hydrochloride), a novel inhibitor of voltage-activated (n-type) K+ channels in human T lymphocytes. We investigated die relation between the thermal sensitivity and the cell kinetics and ploidy of human malignant melanoma primary cultures. Cell suspensions from lymph node and/or cutaneous metastases of 49 patients were exposed for 1 h to 42-degrees-C. The effect of hyperthermia was assessed by an antiproliferative assay based on H-3-thymidine incorporation of cells grown in agarose for 4 days. Thermal sensitivity was observed in 10 of the 49 tumors studied (20%). In vitro thermal response as a function of proliferative activity (H-3-thymidine labeling index) was investigated in 36 melanomas.

Trypanosoma brucei strain 366D trypomastigotes grown at 37 degrees C in the presence of a human fibroblast cell line formed foci underneath the feeder cells whereas trypanosomes grown in the presence of a human epithelial cell line grew only in the culture supernatant.
