Chlamydia trachomatis infection is associated with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and tubal factor infertility (TFI). We investigated the role of C. trachomatis as a target antigen of endometrial and salpingeal tissue lymphocytes derived from PID and TFI patients. Antigen specificity of the tissue originated T lymphocyte lines (TLL) was tested against C. trachomatis elementary bodies and chlamydial heat shock protein 60 (CHSP60). C. trachomatis antigen stimulated proliferation in two out of eight endometrial TLL derived from PID patients and three out of four TLL derived from TFI patients.

PURPOSE: Pinealitis accompanying uveitis is well established in laboratory models of experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis. In naturally occurring uveitis, pinealitis has been demonstrated in the pineal gland from a mare with active uveitis and is suspected in some human uveitides. The effect of preexistent virus-neutralizing antibodies on the active induction of antiviral T cell responses was studied in two model infections in mice. BACKGROUND: Vitamin D is a pleiotropic steroid hormone with immunomodulatory properties. The role of the active metabolite, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2 vitamin D), in regulating human T-cell effector function and immune checkpoint (IC) pathways remains poorly defined.
METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy donors were cultured for five days in presence or absence of 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D (10 or 100 nM).
