BACKGROUND: Poisoning is a significant public health problem globally. Ethiopia is a low-income country undergoing technological and social change that may increase access to drugs and chemicals, potentially increasing the incidence of poisoning. This study describes the epidemiology of hospital admissions due to poisoning in a region of Ethiopia.
METHODS: An institution based prospective observational study was employed, as a study design, in selected hospitals of the region from January to December 2018.

We studied the electrochemical insertion of Li in mechanochemically prepared Zn(2)SnO(4). The mechanism of the electrochemical reaction was investigated by using X-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Changes in the morphology of the Zn(2)SnO(4) particles were studied by in situ scanning electron microscopy. The results were compared with mixtures of SnO(2) + ZnO and with Zn(2)SnO(4) prepared by conventional solid-state synthesis and showed that the mechanochemically prepared Zn(2)SnO(4) exhibits the best cyclic stability of these samples.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and calcium hydroxide on the proliferation and differentiation capacity of pulp cells of primary teeth.
METHODS: Pulp cells were isolated from the retained primary teeth without apparent root resorption and cultured. The cells of 4 - 8 passages were used in the study. Cell proliferation was detected by MTT array, von Kossa staining employed to observe the formation of mineralized nodules and mRNA expression of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP) determined by real time PCR.

AIM: To describe a pulpotomy with mineral trioxide aggregate in a primary second molar with no permanent successor.
SUMMARY: Coronal pulpotomy was performed on a carious primary molar with no permanent successor in a 7-year-old child. Follow-up examinations 24 months later revealed that the treatment was successful in preserving the tooth and the vitality of its pulp.
KEY LEARNING POINT: Mineral trioxide aggregate might be considered as an alternative wound dressing for pulpotomy in primary molars, preserving pulp vitality and prolonging the useful life of the tooth.

A prospective study of 559 cases of acute poisoning who came to this hospital over a period of 14 months. 91.4% cases were of self poisoning (suicidal), 8.1% accidental and only 0.5% homicidal. Majority of patients were young (mean age 27 years), males twice the number of females. Almost 3/4th of the total patients belonged to lower socio-economic group (rural more than urban). The goals of this study were to measure sorption kinetics, solid-water partitioning (log Kd values) as a function of pH, and percent desorption for a diverse set of PFASs on four highly abundant soil and aquifer minerals. RATIONALE: Dens invaginatus (DI) is a rare condition with a prevalence of only 0.3% to 10% mainly affecting the maxillary lateral incisors. In the present case, we describe management of the rarest variant of DI, that is, Oehler type III DI.
PATIENT CONCERNS: Patient complained of severe pain in upper left front teeth since 1 month which aggravated on taking hot liquids. Patient had visited a general dentist who did emergency access opening on #9 and #10 and referred the patient.
