Effect of Multivoice Chorus on Interpersonal Communication Disorder.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

OBJECTIVE: As a type of music therapy, multipart chorus does not have high requirements for participants, and the basic level can be high or low. For college students, it is more likely to participate. Exploring the effect of multivoice chorus intervention on college students' mental health can provide reference for school psychological correction work. This study uses multivoice chorus as a means, combined with certain group psychological counseling techniques, to try to explore a new model for improving the mental health of college students. METHOD: Fifty college students in prison were sel

Predicting Affective Episodes in Bipolar Disorder Using Statistical Process Control Analysis of GPS-Based Mobility Patterns: Quantitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Bipolar disorders (BDs) represent a significant global health challenge, with frequent and severe affective episodes that impair quality of life. Accurate, early prediction of these episodes remains difficult. Recent advances in mobile sensing offer new possibilities to detect prodromal changes via smart digital phenotypes, such as geolocation data. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine whether spatial exploratory behavior, assessed via passive GPS data, can predict depressive and manic episodes in individuals with BD. Specifically, we evaluated the predictive value of unique pla

Biochemical plasticity of synaptic transmission: a critical review of Dale's Principle.

"Dale's Principle" states that each neuron releases one and only one synaptic transmitter. Mental disorders and behavioral drug effects are attributed to activation or blockade of one or more of these specific transmitters. A series of biochemical, electrophysiological, and behavioral studies suggests the alternative view that at each monoaminergic synapse the action of the transmitter is modulated by several metabolically related substances: amine analogs (2-phenylethylamine [PEA], p-tyramine, etc.), deaminated products (aldehydes, acids, and alcohols), and possibly also amino acid precursors

Optogenetic manipulation of cerebellar Purkinje cell activity in vivo.

Purkinje cells (PCs) are the sole output neurons of the cerebellar cortex. Although their anatomical connections and physiological response properties have been extensively studied, the causal role of their activity in behavioral, cognitive and autonomic functions is still unclear because PC activity cannot be selectively controlled. Here we developed a novel technique using optogenetics for selective and rapidly reversible manipulation of PC activity in vivo. We injected into rat cerebellar cortex lentiviruses expressing either the light-activated cationic channel channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR2) or

Hyers Ulam stability and bifurcation control of leptospirosis disease dynamics and preventations: Modeling with singular and non-singular kernels.

Due to its various uses, the dynamical system is a significant research area in the field of mathematical biology. The model is first developed by applying the usual derivative with combined recovery measures of humans as well as animals for leptospirosis transmission and then converted into a generalized form of the fractal fractional sense with power law kernel, exponential law kernel, and Mittag-Leffler kernel. We verify all the fundamental characteristics of the newly developed model for the validation analysis of the system such as equilibrium points, local stability, positivity of soluti

Aerosol-synthesized siliceous nanoparticles: impact of morphology and functionalization on biodistribution.

INTRODUCTION: Siliceous nanoparticles (NPs) have been extensively studied in nanomedicine due to their high biocompatibility and immense biomedical potential. Although numerous technologies have been developed, the synthesis of siliceous NPs for biomedical applications mainly relies on a few core technologies predominantly intended to produce spherical-shaped NPs. METHODS: In this context, the impact of different morphologies of siliceous NPs on biodistribution in vivo is limited. In the present study, we developed a novel technique based on an aerosol silane reactor to produce sintered silic

Real-time dissolution behavior of furosemide in biorelevant media as determined by UV imaging.

The potential of UV imaging as a new small scale flow-through dissolution testing platform and its ability to incorporate biorelevant media was tested. Furosemide was utilized as a model poorly soluble drug, and dissolution media simulating conditions in the small intestine (5/1.25 mM and 40/10 mM bile salt/phospholipid, pH 6.5) together with corresponding blank buffer were employed. Dissolution rates as a function of flow rate (0.2-1.0 mL/min) were determined directly from UV images, and by analysis of collected effluent using UV spectrophotometry. A good agreement in dissolution rates was ob

Diagnostic and therapeutic management of neuroendocrine lung tumors: a clinical study of 44 cases.

Neuroendocrine tumors of the lung (NTL) are a distinct subset of tumors with a wide range of histological patterns and clinical behavior. Controversy still exists as to the ideal diagnostic and therapeutic approach to these neoplasms. A series of 44 consecutive NTL patients operated on at our Institution was retrospectively reviewed in order to critically analyze the diagnostic and therapeutic management. A preoperative diagnosis was obtained in 11 patients (25%). All patients underwent an anatomical surgical resection with lymphoadenectomy. Pathological diagnosis was typical carcinoid (TC) tu

A Multi-Theoretical and Multi-Method Family Study Approach to Preschool Inhibitory Control: Links to Working Memory, Receptive Vocabulary, Behavioral Maladjustment, and Parent Mental Health in the Context of Temperament and Executive Functioning Perspectives.

Inhibitory control (IC) is defined as the executive functioning (EF) and self-regulatory temperamental inhibition of impulsive or pre-potent behavior and has been consistently linked to multiple forms of childhood cognitive and socio-emotional maladjustment including academic and learning challenges, externalizing behaviors, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, the results of relevant investigations are somewhat dependent on the method of IC assessment and the theoretical approach of the researcher. The two primary theoretical perspectives on IC are the temperament and the EF

Brain-wide spatial mapping of oscillatory activity during naturalistic motor behavior.

Understanding oscillatory neural activity associated with motor behavior is greatly contributing to the development of neuroprosthetic systems, robotic interfaces, and advanced neurorehabilitation techniques. Most current knowledge about movement-specific patterns of cortical activity is derived from laboratory experiments using highly standardized, repetitive, and often meaningless movements that are very distinct from natural motor behavior. This is characterized by frequent task switching, diverse kinematics, and endogenous motivation. Whether observed patterns of movement-related neural ac

Amelioration of pain and anxiety in sleep-deprived rats by intra-amygdala injection of cinnamaldehyde.

BACKGROUND: Sleep disorders are accompanied by increased anxiety and somatic pain. In addition, it has been observed that anxiety and pain have a boosting effect on each other, resulting in continued sleep disturbances. Amygdala's (CeA) central nucleus plays a crucial role in these processes. Cinnamaldehyde (Cinn) is an aromatic compound with anti-anxiety, antioxidant, and sleep-promoting properties. The present study uses sleep-deprived rats to examine the effects of an intra-CeA injection of Cinn on pain and anxiety. METHODS: Sleep deprivation (SD) was induced using the platform technique.

Attention to Self-Related Face or Attractive Face? Neural Activation and Oscillation Evidence from Orthognathic Patients.

Attractive faces capture attention. However, the cognitive-behavioral model predicts that individuals with body dysmorphic disorder exhibit a cognitive bias to faces related to their appearance-related self-beliefs. To differentiate between these two mechanisms, we employed electroencephalogram techniques to investigate attentional bias toward faces in orthognathic patients with dento-maxillofacial deformities (DD), who were scheduled to undergo orthognathic surgery to correct these anomalies. We recruited 17 orthognathic patients and 17 controls to complete an oddball task when EEG was record

Measuring vibrations on a biofidelic brain using ferroelectret nanogenerator.

Our knowledge of traumatic brain injury has been fast growing with the emergence of new markers pointing to various neurological changes that the brain undergoes during an impact or any other form of concussive event. In this work, we study the modality of deformations on a biofidelic brain system when subject to blunt impacts, highlighting the importance of the time-dependent behavior of the resulting waves propagating through the brain. This study is carried out using two different approaches involving optical (Particle Image Velocimetry) and mechanical (flexible sensors) in the biofidelic b

Decreased activity of striatal monoamine oxidase B after rapid eye movement (REM) sleep deprivation in rats.

The striatum seems to be the main brain region involved in stereotyped behavior induced by dopaminergic agonists. Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep deprivation increases dopaminergic agonist-induced stereotypy and produces biochemical changes in striatal dopaminergic neurotransmission. However, the mechanism underlying the increased dopaminergic sensitivity induced by REM sleep deprivation has not been elucidated. In an attempt to determine some of the biochemical changes in striatal dopaminergic neurotransmission that could contribute to REM sleep deprivation effects, we measured the activity of

Reliability of A Vibration-Based Elastography Protocol For Assessing Achilles Tendon Stiffness Across Multiple Joint Angles In Elite Athletes.

The mechanical behavior of the Achilles tendon plays a critical role in athletic performance and injury risk; however, in vivo assessment of tendon stiffness remains challenging. Conventional approaches combining ultrasonography with dynamometry are expensive, laboratory-bound, and typically limited to single joint positions, while existing elastography-based techniques are often constrained by methodological assumptions or limited functional relevance. The purpose of this study was to present and validate a standardized, portable protocol for quantifying the functional stiffness spectrum of t
