BACKGROUND: Pineal region tumors represent a rare and histologically diverse group of lesions. Few studies are available to guide management and the outcomes after stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
METHODS: Patients who underwent SRS for a pineal region tumor and for whom at least 6 months of imaging follow-up was available were retrospectively assessed in 5 centers. Data were collected from the medical record and histology level analyses were performed, including actuarial tumor control and survival analyses.

The optimal treatment of low-stage nonseminomatous germ cell testicular cancer (NSGCT) is controversial. For clinical stage (CS) I NSGCT, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND), two cycles of chemotherapy and surveillance are all accepted treatment options. Rapid growth of residual tumor after partial hepatectomy has been observed during the period of liver regeneration in children with malignant embryonal hepatoblastoma. To determine the extent of progress in the treatment of sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs), we evaluated the experience with 73 patients over 40 years. The medical records of the children were reviewed for demographics, histology, clinical course, and outcome. Therapy differed depending on the type of SCT, histology, and decade of diagnosis. Maldescent is known to increase the risk of cancer of the testis. However, the effect of orchiopexy on reducing tumour risk and altering tumour type or stage at diagnosis is not established. The authors review the records of patients with testicular tumours seen for seminoma (1958 to 1975) and nonseminoma (1958 to 1970).
